Melbourne tutor in Japanese

Hi, I’m Yasu, a native Japanese teacher with more than 10 years of teaching experience in Australia and Japan.

I hold a PhD in Linguistics from Macquarie University, as well as postgraduate qualifications in Applied Linguistics. My lessons are informed by both my teaching experience and my academic knowledge of language teaching and learning.

1. Academic Japanese Support

I offer personalised online academic support for learners studying Japanese at school or university. Lessons are adjusted to each learner’s coursework, current level and individual learning needs.

This includes support for HSC and VCE students, as well as university students who are experiencing difficulties with their Japanese language courses.

I primarily focus on writing and speaking, with grammar support provided as needed. Lessons are usually private, although learners may also study with friends if they prefer.

2. General Japanese

I also offer online General Japanese lessons, including lessons for complete beginners.

Some of my students who began with no previous knowledge of Japanese have been able to speak with me in simple Japanese for more than 10 minutes after approximately eight lessons.

Lesson format and rates

• Online lessons via Microsoft Teams
• Private lessons: $60 per hour
• Group lessons for two or more learners: $50 per person for 90 minutes
