The best way for students and parents to contact me is via my phone number 0466 045 115.

I have had many students, all of whom managed to improve their grades during their time with me. My favourite part of tutoring is getting to know the kids (many of whom are surprisingly funny) and watching their self-confidence and their engagement with the subject grow (particularly since these subjects were and still are my favourites). I also enjoy the challenge of adapting my explanations and teaching style to each student.

I studied Ext. 2 and 1 Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the HSC, achieving an E3 and E4 respectively in maths and band 6's in Physics and Chemistry in 2019. I am currently a third-year student studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UNSW. I tutor from primary school to senior high school in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and General Science. I specialise in Mathematics and Physics.

I have two approaches to tutoring, depending on the reason the student/parent has sought it out. If the student is struggling, my goal is to find out at which point they "fell off". By this I mean, when a student is struggling with algebra, typically they didn't fully understand negative numbers and the connection between division, multiplication and fractions. If they are struggling with trigonometry, they probably didn't fully understand algebra but did well enough to get by. I have found that by focusing on the underlying issue, great strides can be made in the more advanced material without specifically working on it, boosting students' confidence in their own abilities and hopefully reducing their belief that the subject is just too hard.

If the student is already doing well and is looking to do even better, I like to introduce more complex ideas from later on in their syllabus to keep them from becoming bored and to give them a chance to 'chew on' difficult problems, enabling them to better understand these concepts when they are later introduced in class.

For both groups, when an assessment task is coming up, I like to first go through the notification with the student and break down precisely what they need to do. Then for younger students, I will help them with their assignments, and for older students, I will review and give feedback on them, like pre-marking them. For tests, the student and I will work out an at-home study plan, and during sessions, we will either do additional questions on the topics they most frequently make mistakes in or do extension questions on relevant topics.

Each student is required to bring any textbooks or worksheets their school teacher has provided them with, as well as their workbook/notebook for the subject, a book they are happy for me to write in and any pens/pencils/calculators they require. For their first session if they could bring in their last test or topic test it would be extremely helpful in accelerating my ability to develop a plan for your child.

"My son has been attending Anneliese for more than one year. He has shown substantial improvement and confidence in his science subject. Her sessions were well planned with excellent materials and exercises to help my son understand the subjects. His feedback after the first session, “Anneliese explained the subject better than my teacher”. He is a year 9/10 student in the selective school in Newcastle."
