My name is James and I graduated in 2021 from Haileybury College with a perfect 99.95 ATAR. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne as a Chancellor’s Scholar.

🧮 METHODS:

Methods is not always about doing every question in the textbook. How I prefer to teach Methods is to ensure you are exposed to every type of question. Once you understand and not memorise the concepts and application to each topic, it becomes much easier. School SACs are often vastly different to what you find on the end of year exam and that’s why my teaching is adjusted to accommodate to your school’s unique SACs and SAC schedules. With all SACs being tech active, the importance of being able to use your CAS efficiently and effectively cannot be expressed enough.

📊 ACCOUNTING:

Lots of people find accounting very confusing especially with certain topics like Balance Day Adjustments. Others tend to memorise what is debited and credited alongside memorising theory responses. My approach to learning and teaching Accounting ensures we understand why certain transactions are recorded a certain way so that it isn’t simply a memorisation task. Currently undertaking a major in Accounting, I have a deep understanding of not only how but why transactions are recorded. With plenty of practice questions, you are sure to develop the same level of understanding!

I feel the most important thing is being comfortable and confident to ask questions to your tutor, knowing that no question is a silly question. That’s why I aim to always create a friendly connection with students, to ensure that they are able to ask me about anything or for any resources, knowing they will be supported and guided through their VCE journey.
