Hi, my name is Evan McGarrity, and I am currently a Mathematics Teacher in Queensland, specialising in senior subjects including Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics.

Throughout my teaching career, I have worked alongside an exceptional mathematics department that has helped shape and strengthen my practice. This experience has allowed me to develop a teaching style that focuses on adapting complex and abstract mathematical concepts to suit each student's individual learning needs. I believe that just as there are multiple ways to solve a mathematical problem, there are also multiple ways to teach a mathematical concept effectively.

My approach centres on clear, simplified explanations that help students develop strong problem-solving methods they can apply across a range of topics. Building a solid foundation in mathematical fundamentals is essential for success, and I prioritise ensuring students fully understand key concepts before moving on to more advanced material. I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing their thinking, and building confidence in their abilities.

I have experience teaching students across a wide range of ability levels, from those who may be struggling with mathematics to high-achieving students seeking additional challenge and extension. In my current role as a senior mathematics teacher, I am responsible for preparing Year 10 students for the transition into Year 11 Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. This has given me a strong understanding of the Queensland curriculum and the academic expectations of senior mathematics courses.

In addition to my classroom experience, I have presented at mathematics education conferences, sharing teaching strategies and engaging with current developments in mathematics education. These opportunities have further strengthened my ability to communicate mathematical ideas effectively and remain connected to best practice within the profession.

I have a genuine passion for teaching and thoroughly enjoy helping students develop their understanding, confidence, and success in mathematics.
