Hi! I'm Heeju.

I am passionate about helping you discover and pursue your academic passions, and will always do my best to help you achieve your academic goals.

What I Teach:

Maths - Year 7 to Year 12, IB Maths (all subjects)

Biology - Year 7 to Year 10

English - Year 7 to Year 10

Latin - Year 7 to 10, IB Latin

Homework/assignment help, EE feedback

I tutor Maths, Biology, English and Latin at varying levels, all of which are subjects I love. I took all these subjects in IB (Maths HL, Biology SL, English Language and Literature SL and Latin SL) and enjoyed exploring all of them. In IB, I was able to figure out the ins and outs of these subjects, eventually scoring level 7 in all of them. I can share with you the methods and tricks I used to do so, devise lessons to help you achieve the same, and guide you through any internal assessments too.

My Approach?

My teaching style is aimed at helping YOU. I believe that every student has different needs and different strengths and weaknesses, so I will always teach you what I believe is most beneficial for your academic success. Together we can identify what you need to focus on, whether that be understanding concepts, learning how to apply them, answering classwork related questions or refining exam skills and techniques.

I believe that academic success comes from personalising your understanding and finding study methods that work for you. Every student learns differently, and sometimes it takes thinking about a topic in one particular way or using one specific learning technique for that “aha” moment. I find great joy in seeing my students improve, and would love to work with you to help you reach your academic potential.

Finally, I understand that school can be a challenging time and I never want my lessons to add any additional stress. The workload of each lesson can be tailored to you, and I will always prioritise your mental wellbeing. I genuinely care about all my students and frequently check in with them, and am flexible with my lessons so that I can cater to your needs.

Some Additional Information:

Currently I am only offering online tutoring sessions through video calls and in person classes near/at the University of Queensland campus. Both online and in person, students can get access to notes, resources and anything else required for their learning.

I have working proficiency in Korean, which may be helpful for some communication.

I am happy to offer small group lessons of 2-3 students at a lower hourly rate - please let me know if this is something you're interested in.

Outside of academics, I love to play soccer, illustrate, and jam on the electric bass.

Feel free to reach out to me with any enquiries! Whether you're after a one-off lesson, a trial lesson, or want to arrange scheduled sessions, I would love to hear from you!

Experience

I have peer tutored in high school for three years and at Crimson Education for a year. During this time, I worked with a range of high school students from different year levels, breaking down difficult concepts, providing guidance on exam related topics and refined my tutoring skills. Students have provided positive feedback, said they’ve understood new concepts and rated me 4.9/5 stars on Crimson Education.

Qualifications

I am currently in the provisional medicine entry scheme at the University of Queensland. For undergrad, I’m doing a Bachelor of Science and Arts, majoring in Biomedical Sciences, Maths and Latin.

My academic achievements during high school include:

- Receiving 45 points in the International Baccalaureate diploma, equivalent to a 99.95 ATAR. This included a perfect 34/34 for my Extended Essay in Latin.

- Receiving Scholarship in Calculus and Latin and Outstanding Scholarship in English for the New Zealand scholarship examinations (NZQA).

- Scoring 3100 on the UCAT.
