Wollongong tutor in Biology

I am a university lecturer with more than 15 years teaching biology. I also privately tutor year 11 and year 12 biology. I absolutely love teaching biology!

I now have availability for one more student from term 2, 2026.

First 1 hour lesson is free. :) After this the schedule is usually one lesson per student per week, but I am very flexible. No payment upfront, and no lock in contracts.

I am a highly patient and understanding teacher who respects each student as an individual, with a very student-centred approach to learning. I am known for my engaging classes and innovative teaching material, and my support of students from all backgrounds.

Biology can be difficult! So for each lesson, I create tailored worksheets and material focused on the individual needs of each student, and my own tailored study aids for students to use between classes. I work with students through exemplar answers to year 11 and HSC past assessments and papers, and provide specific feedback on their own test attempts with me. I really enjoy seeing students master the material, and also conquer the exam format.

I am a university lecturer, with over 15 years of teaching University level biology. Additionally, I have been privately tutoring NSW year 11 and 12 biology for the past 2 years.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Biology (Honours Class I) from Sydney University (2002)
PhD in Cell Biology from the University of New South Wales (2011)
Postdoctoral research fellow in Molecular Biophysics at the University of Maine (USA) (2011 - 2016)
From 2017 I have worked as a lecturer, demonstrator and tutor at the University of Wollongong, and have been awarded for Outstanding Contributions to Teaching and Learning (2021) (UOW) and Excellence in Teaching Leadership (2024) (UOW College; and UOW Global Enterprises).
