Experienced General Science and Senior Biology Tutor (secondary)
Cairns tutor in Biology, General Science, Human Biology, Study Skills
I can meet students at the local library (Smithfield or Stratford Library) for up to 2 hours depending on when we arrive. I'm available (by appointment) on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 3pm. Best way to contact me is via email. I have a strong background in general science and senior biology. I enjoy helping students at all levels to gain confidence and meet their goals. My main area of expertise is biology. My approach to tutoring is a beginning lesson to determine topic areas and student goals. Future lessons will have a specific focus on a particular/concept topic or assessment. I structure my lessons with a warmup, body and summary to consolidate learnings. Sometimes I can provide worksheets or activities to aid in gaining proficiency. I help mainly secondary students, however, can provide tutoring to primary (years 5 & 6) if requested. I can also provide feedback and editing tips for assessment to first-year university students. You can tailor your tutoring experience to your needs, I am not fixed to a minimum number of lessons.

Experience
I'm a registered secondary general science and senior biology teacher currently working in a State High School. I've been teaching since 2016 and have had success with a wide variety of students. I also have experience working for Biosecurity Queensland in the Four Tropical Weeds Eradication Program. I am experienced with many modes of assessment, laboratories/practicals and experimental design and analysis. I have a very easy-going approach to teaching/tutoring and can easily differentiate between various levels of understanding. I also am qualified to teach certificate level courses.
