Hola! Bonjour! It's Lara here, I love travelling, learning languages and helping others to do so in a fun way! Have you been studying a language for many years but never got to speak it or write it fluently? I can help you out!

I currently tutor for 8 students, and I usually do lessons of 1h or 1h30min duration. I am really flexible with schedules, I am free most afternoons and evenings, and some mornings here and there. I always do my best to reschedule sessions, or skip sessions if needed, to adapt to the student's needs! Feel free to reach out to discuss availability and your needs! From my experience, I've learnt to adapt to different situations and personalities, as well as differing student needs and levels, from young kids to adults! Equally, I adapt my teaching methods to what the student requires. For example, if the student wants to be able to travel/communicate/discuss in a real situation of the language we are learning, I will then focus my attention on speaking, via different exercises. Personally, I've found songs, games and informal conversation work really well to keep up engagement during the lesson.

I organise my lessons by topics, including cultural topics, and I follow this structure in each lesson: I present the content (input) in context (with songs, stories, images, podcasts, etc), then we practise (through exercises, games, conversation, roleplays, etc.) and finally I prompt my students to produce some content (output) based on our learning so far (this could be a dialogue to use the vocab or practise tenses, or debate, exposition, written task, etc).

Hello there! Bonjour! Hola! It's Lara here, I have been tutoring for 4 years now and I currently work in a school in Melbourne with students of Y12 as well as in a Language School teaching Spanish to adults. During my experience, I have tutored in person as well as group lessons, both online and in person, in French, English and Spanish (native speaker). My students range from 2 year-old kids to teenagers and adults, and they study languages for different purposes (travel, school subjects support, for fun or work purposes, etc). I also mentored students in French at the Paston College in Norwich (UK).

Qualifications

I own a Bachelor's degree in Translation and Interpreting with a minor in Second Language teaching. I speacialise in Second Language Teaching for kids and adults, an Spanish is my area of specialisation since I am a native speaker. As for English and French, I own C1 level certification (Cambridge, IELTS, DELF, DALF) and I am perfectly fluent since I have been living in English and French-speaking countries for 4 years now.

Rates

Online rate starts at 90 aud/h, if I have to travel I charge extra depending on how many kms.

Depending on how much preparation the lesson requires, it might be a higher rate, if I need to tailor it to a specific target (IB, exam prep, narrative writing for School subjects, etc)
