Hi! I am a super eager registered hospital pharmacist and med-student that is keen to tutor! I tutor mainly at a university level (Bachelors and Masters of Pharmacy) at the moment, and am keen to do tutoring for primary and secondary school as well.
About me:
I am currently a registered hospital pharmacist working in Brisbane and Gold Coast, and a fourth-year medical student at Bond University. I graduated from UQ in 2018 with B.Pharmacy (Honours, Class 1, and Major in clinical and experimental therapeutics) and completed my Honours research project over 2 years at RBWH in the Women's and Newborn's pharmacy department. I then interned in Toowoomba in hospital pharmacy for one-year, which was a great perspective into regional/rural healthcare, and after registering as a pharmacist returned to Brisbane to work in hospital. I worked full-time, and realised my all-time passion for Medicine, which I then pursued. I now work part-time/casually as a pharmacist at different hospitals and complete private tutoring as I love teaching and always have. As a pharmacy intern, I often created learning opportunities and presentations for staff, patients, and medical students. In medicine itself, I was in the OBSGYN society for 2 years as President (2023) and Communications/Sponsorship (2022) where I loved creating new education events and meeting-likeminded individuals. I am now a part of the Australian Medical Student Association (AMSA-MedEd) as an IT officer and Factsheets team member. I have a deep passion for healthcare and for education, and to give back, as knowledge is power! Outside of this, I love to dance, play music, and stay active with sports and hiking.
Tutoring experience: I have tutored primarily at University level where I started by doing exam and interview preparations for pharmacy interns at work for free. Realising my passion for teaching, I then properly started private tutoring for those in Bachelors and Masters of Pharmacy. I would do lecture-style teaching on topics of interest (biology, anat/physiology, pharmacology), exam/OSCE stations, weekly quiz preparations, and editing/assisting with assignments. I also would do sessions for job applications and interview prep for students specific to pharmacy internships, which can also be applied to other jobs as well. My most recent student (M.Pharm graduate) was able to pass her final OSCEs (which she originally did not pass), and score the job of her dreams in hospital pharmacy with a three-year contract including an internship and residency.
Beyond this I have a position at Bond and Griffith university as an Anatomy/Physiology and pharmacology tutor. I am eager to teach in other areas as well as listed in my description.
Structuring my sessions:
Really dependant on you, what you require, and your level, and I will tailor it accordingly! After an initial phone call we can figure this all out! It is helpful to know what you would like to learn or if there are any assignments/quizzes you would like to work on before class. I do lecture-style teachings as well, and am a firm believer on dynamic teaching methods and repetition!
Success stories: My M.Pharm student passing a final OSCE exam that she previously failed, and scoring the job of her dreams within her state in hospital pharmacy (a 3-year contract)
Am best to be contacted by phone or email, and available most evenings after placement and on week-ends. Depending on the location I am available on-line and in-person as I travel between Brisbane and Gold Coast, however most students have preferred online. Happy to have a call about what you would like to work on. Whether that's just an interest in medicine/pharmacy or career pathways, tutoring, and/or job interviews or applications.
