Canberra tutor in Algebra, Calculus, Further Maths, General Maths, Geometry, Maths, Maths Methods, Maths Specialist, Statistics

Hi! My name is Jet and I am very passionate about Mathematics. I am currently studying the PhB Science program at ANU, a prestigious research degree for high performing students, focusing on Math.

Math is tough, teachers go too fast for some, or not enough for others. Moreover, kids tend to find what could be a fun subject dull and boring. My goal is to not only simplify difficult concepts, such as calculus or algebra, but also make them interesting. For some, this might mean putting it in an applied setting, and for others this could be in the world of theoretical mathematics. Further, knowing how to approach difficult problems is not about practicing questions over and over, but rather, its about doing lots of different problems. The textbook provided often contains similar problems, so finding a diverse array of questions is a challenge. However, I did the hard work so that you don't have to, and have found various resources which I believe will help to develop mathematical skills.

In year 11 and 12, particularly, I struggled a lot in the first semester of Specialist Mathematics. The coursework was overwhelming, and I was saddened to find that I went from scores of 95+ in year 10, to getting negative z scores in year 11. I realised that, learning does not come down to studying for hours before an exam, but it is about identifying struggles and finding resources which cater to those weak spots. I not only undertook some holiday tuition to learn content beforehand, but during the term, I implemented the above techniques, and my ranks increased from 23rd to 1st by the end of year 12. I have achieved multiple 2+ z scores on Specialist Math exams, with unit scores of 100+.

I had to learn how to study effectively the hard way, but now, I can teach these techniques so that you don't have to struggle in school as much as I did!

I offer individual, group, and holiday classes. I can do this at your home or online.

Experience

I conducted tutoring for a student in 2024 for Specialist Methods after she struggled with the first semester. Her results improved after this period where I taught her topics like logarithms, sequences and series and how to approach problems in these topics.

Tutored 5 students in 2025:
My Year 11 students improved by 30% in their exams after just one semester of tutoring
Year 12 Specialist Mathematics student who achieved high marks
Experience in tutoring students with disabilities
