Hi there! I'm Matthew, I recently graduated from Narrabundah College studying Specialist Maths Core and Options, Chemistry, Physics, and ANU Chemistry. I offer tutoring in Maths and Chemistry for students from Years 10-12 with a specialisation in early college preparation. Currently, I am pursuing studies in PhB - Science at ANU.

Approach to Learning:
Mathematics and science can seem daunting, especially at the college level where the pace of learning accelerates, and the complexity of the material deepens. However, these challenges also present an incredible opportunity for growth particularly with the right learning support. Success in these subjects comes not from rote memorization but from understanding the underlying principles and developing the ability to think critically and adapt knowledge to unfamiliar problems. My approach to tutoring focuses on equipping students with the tools they need to excel—not just in their current studies but in their academic journeys as a whole.

I believe that building a strong foundation is essential for mastering advanced topics. Often, students struggle because of gaps in prior knowledge, which can make new concepts seem insurmountable. My sessions focus on identifying these gaps and addressing them early, ensuring that students have a solid base upon which to build. From algebra and calculus to organic chemistry and physics principles, I tailor each lesson to the student's unique needs, breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps.

Problem-solving intuition is another key focus of my teaching. By working through a variety of problems and exploring the reasoning behind each step, I help students develop the skills and confidence to tackle even the most challenging questions independently. I emphasize understanding the "why" behind techniques, enabling students to adapt their knowledge to different scenarios and exams.
