Adelaide tutor in Algebra, Calculus, Creative Writing, English, English Language, English Literature, Further Maths, General Maths, Geometry, Maths, Maths Methods, Reading, Statistics
I am available for tutoring all day on Wednesdays and Sundays. I am able to do Friday from 12pm-3pm, and after 2pm on Saturdays.
I can be best contacted by email at pavahiny.nagalingam@gmail.com.
I would prefer for tutoring sessions to occur at public spaces, such as libraries, but am willing to negotiate for alternatives.
For qualifications in Mathematics: I have a 6 (Distinction) in IB Analysis and Approaches Higher Level (Specialist Maths equivalent), have a High Distinction in my first semester of university Maths, and a Distinction in my second semester of university Maths. I continue to study Mathematics as a major of my course, so I have a deeper level of understanding of Mathematics and am in the habit of problem-solving.
For qualifications in English: I have a 5 (Credit) in IB English Literature Higher Level and achieved many 6s and 7s for my formative schoolwork and as such have studied authorial intent and literary technique at an in-depth high school level. In the interest of tutoring primary school students, I sat the IGNITE test in primary school and was placed in that program in high school due to an exceptionally high reading comprehension rank (in addition to a high Maths and Abstract Reasoning rank). I will be studying English subjects in my degree as I intend on becoming a qualified Maths and English teacher.
I enjoy tutoring as I genuinely take great interest in the subject matter being taught and love sharing my knowledge with others to help with their learning, which is why I also want to become a teacher. I love solving problems that others struggle with and explaining how it works and the process of arriving to the answer. I believe both Maths and English are incredibly important skills for understanding the world around us and it is important that every student has the opportunity to learn these disciplines at a higher level if they so wish.
My approach to tutoring will be need-based. I hope to help students with the areas they find the most difficult and focus on developing their skills in those areas. I can also help with understanding assignments and other more specific tasks the student finds daunting. I will structure my lessons with most time going towards helping the student with their area of need, if there is time leftover, then I will provide some exercises which target those areas.
I offer tutoring for Primary and Secondary for Maths and Primary for English.
I am currently studying a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Teaching (secondary) with a major in Mathematics and a second teaching area of English and have successfully completed a year of a Mechanical Engineering degree previously.
