UOW Scholar Helping You Master Maths
Wollongong tutor in Algebra, Calculus, Further Maths, General Maths, IELTS, Maths
Hi! I’m Chaitanya. You can call me 'Chat!'. I am a Vice-Chancellor’s Leadership Scholar currently studying a Bachelor of Mathematics Advanced at the University of Wollongong. I offer tutoring in mathematics for high school students who want to truly understand the subject, not just memorise formulas.
I genuinely enjoy helping others “get” math. I’ve been told that I can explain tough concepts in a way that makes them feel surprisingly simple. I believe learning should feel less like a chore and more like solving a puzzle. I use real-world examples to make abstract ideas stick. I’ll guide you through problems step-by-step and help you build confidence along the way. I want to focus on building intuition, not just rote solving.
I happen to be the only international Vice-Chancellor’s Scholar at UOW. I was part of a research project with the National University of Singapore, which was creating an application for children suffering from Autism. Last year, I led my team to win a hackathon focused on creative problem-solving. I have also been volunteering as a one-on-one English tutor for disadvantaged immigrants to help improve their job prospects.
I will be focusing on High School Students with General, Advanced & Extension Maths. I would also like to tutor first and second-year uni students with Calculus, Linear Algebra, ODEs, and Complex Analysis. I am available mainly on weekday evenings and weekends. I would prefer in-person sessions at the UOW Library or any easily accessible public place, but I can also conduct online sessions. I can be best reached by email at cva953@uowmail.edu.au.
Looking forward to seeing you!
Cheers!

Experience
I've been told that when I explain concepts, they suddenly become a piece of cake. While I haven't done any paid tutoring yet, I’ve been actively volunteering my time. I worked with the American Assimilation Helpline, a nonprofit that offers free, one-on-one tutoring, mostly helping financially disadvantaged immigrants improve their English to open up better job opportunities. It was incredibly fulfilling and a great exercise in patience and empathy
I’ve also done a lot of informal tutoring, helping classmates and friends survive math assignments and exam prep. These experiences have sharpened my ability to explain things clearly and adapt to different learning styles, and I genuinely enjoy making tricky concepts less scary (and occasionally even fun).
Qualifications
I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Mathematics (Advanced) at the University of Wollongong as a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholar, which basically means I really like math. I’ve completed advanced subjects across calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and complex analysis (yes, the one with the scary-looking integrals), and I actually enjoy most of them.
Outside uni, I’ve worked on research projects, including one with the National University of Singapore aimed at helping children with autism, and I even won a hackathon with a Pokémon Go-style walking app — math and creativity do mix! I’m also currently an iAccelerate Student Ambassador, working with startup founders, so I know how to explain things clearly to people from all walks of life.
All in all, I bring a strong academic foundation, a love for teaching, and a belief that learning should feel a little less like a chore and a little more fun.
