Current teacher of 15 years. Worked with multiple additional needs students over the years from ASD, ADHD, ODD and Downs Syndrome. Very neurodiversity affirming. Use a phonics and whole language approach to reading. I work at students ability level rather than chronological level. I have had students working 1 or 2 years above their chronological level as well as students that start below their chronological level and quickly reach their chronological level.
