Hi, I’m Rishika! I’m an Astrophysics Honours graduate from ANU, with over three years of experience tutoring Maths, Physics, and General Science for students from primary through to college level.

I specialise in breaking down complex concepts into simple, relatable steps and tailoring lessons to each student’s needs. My goal is to build both subject mastery and confidence so students feel supported and capable, not just prepared for exams.

Experience

I have over three years of tutoring and mentoring experience across Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and general Science for primary, secondary, and college students.
I began tutoring during high school and college in Malaysia at Kumon and IQ Plus Centre, supporting students in Maths, before offering private tutoring in Physics and Science. During this time, I also served as a peer mentor, helping fellow students strengthen study habits and overcome academic challenges.
Since moving to Australia, I’ve combined my academic training with teaching roles in science outreach and education. At the Australian National University (ANU), I worked as a Project Coordinator with meriSTEM, designing curriculum-aligned resources for high school teachers, and as an Outreach Assistant at Mount Stromlo Observatory, delivering hands-on astronomy programs. I also lead STEM workshops in schools through Robogals, building students’ confidence in STEM.
Across all these roles, I’ve learnt how to adapt to different learning styles, explain complex ideas simply, and make sessions engaging and confidence-building.

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Astronomy & Astrophysics (ANU) with a minor in Science Communication and a specialisation in Advanced Physics.
- Recipient of a full undergraduate scholarship from the Malaysian Ministry of Education, awarded for academic excellence and extracurricular achievements.
- Achieved top results in Malaysian national exams: SPM (equivalent to Australian Year 12/HSC) – 5A+ and 4A, including A+ in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Graduated pre-university college with a 4.0 GPA (equivalent to an ATAR of ~99.95).
- Extensive teaching and outreach experience through roles at ANU’s meriSTEM program, Mount Stromlo Observatory, Robogals, and as a Science Student Ambassador, where I designed resources, mentored students, and delivered hands-on STEM programs.
