My passion for helping others learn started in grade 10 when a friend said 'I don't understand the teacher'. I explained the accounting principle and found great satisfaction when I saw the penny drop. I've always been a curious and proactive learner and my passion for imparting that knowledge is even greater.

Tutor for Prep to grade 8 students, I'm available Monday Wednesday and Fridays between 9am and 5.30pm.
My time is flexible so I can assist with home schooling during the day.
I can come to the Student's home, a library, or happy to meet at my home.

Understanding how a child learns and what their areas of opportunity are, is the initial and continuous focus. I'm flexible with how we use the session - on homework, extension work, learning & study techniques, writing exercises & exam revisions. I will request access to homework and briefs in advance so I can plan and use session time effectively. My skills lie in English, Maths and Science however I'm confident tutoring any subject, even if it means I need a refresher myself. I've tutored all Primary School, grade 7&8 subjects. I've been entrusted with the responsibility to train complicated systems in the workplace only weeks into training myself on the job. I'm approachable and patient so will try a different technique if understanding hasn't been reached. I'm also pretty good at hand ball if we need a reset!

Coaching learning techniques and systems is just as important as the subject content. We'll be creating excellent study habits which can result in more leisure time and better grades.

I'm creative and a passionate cook so I can incorporate craft and baking into some lessons, if interested.

Experience

I have been training people in various capacities for over 25 years.

In the Corporate world, I worked in training and development roles, coaching staff in one on one and group environments. I wrote and delivered modules for new and senior staff, on sales, product, systems & time management. I won National and Global awards.

When I had children, my passion for facilitating personal growth naturally moved to young people.
 
In 2020, I wrote a Children's picture book and was the first self-published Author to be accepted into Gold Coast Libraries. I went on to deliver engaging writing workshops at Libraries and Primary Schools. Teacher feedback was that I inspired even the apprehensive writers to start a writers club. The children with learning difficulties remained attentive and involved during my sessions.

I have tutored my own children, now grade 4 & 8, with impressive results. Comments like ‘I like the way you explain it Mum’ and seeing the progression in every single session, is extremely rewarding.

Working with children has been the most rewarding training I've delivered. They obviously have so much to learn, are curious and fun!

My passion is seeing others grow and learn.

Qualifications

High School - OP 5
University - Bachelor of Hotel Management, with a Major in Marketing. GPA of 6.5 (Distinction to High Distinction)
I have been training children and adults professionally for 25 years.
I hold a blue card.
