How Lessons Work
Selective School and HSC Tutoring:
Diagnostic & goals: Quick baseline by section (Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills, Writing) → set targets.
Weakness-first plan: Each lesson centres on the student’s biggest gaps to fill knowledge holes fast.
Mini-lesson (scaffold): Teach a clear method per question type (e.g., assumption traps, ratio setups, inference steps).
Guided practice (untimed): Work through targeted questions slowly to perfect setup, working, and reasoning.
Error analysis: Build an error log (pattern, cause, fix) + create a personal technique bank.
Timed drills: Progress to short, timed sets with timing ladders and elimination strategies.
Full mocks: Run exam-conditions mocks, review with item-by-item debrief and retake weak sections.
Homework packs: Targeted practice by weakness + model solutions; I provide feedback each week.
Interview Lessons:
1. Core questions first: I teach structured, model answers for the standard medicine questions you’ll almost always get (Why Medicine/Why this school?)
2. Beyond the standard questions (Curveballs): For variable stations which have curveball questions we will use an effective framework to ensure that you stay organised and coherent (e.g. Ethical scenarios, Policy, Pros/Cons, teamwork/conflict etc.).
3. Write → speak progression: Start with dot-point templates, then aim to progress to timed spoken answers in lessons.
4. Targeted feedback: Rubric-led critique each attempt (structure, judgement/safety, empathy, clarity) + micro-drills to fix gaps.
5. Homework mocks: I set MMI scenarios to record at home (video/audio). You send them in; I mark & critique with actionable notes and exemplar rewrites.
6. Full mock near the end: Timed stations, scored rubric, and a personalised action plan.
GAMSAT (Section 2):
1. Task A & B structures: We will build clear templates for both so you can produce clear, structured responses that markers directly look for.
2. How to generate a model paragraph workshop: We’ll practise crafting paragraphs to reach a 70+ marker benchmark and practise integrating evidence.
3. Homework + Feedback: At the end of lessons I set a prompt and you will write the essay. I mark and critique with a rubric aligned to marker criteria and provide targeted feedback.
CASPer:
1. We break down what CASPer raters specifically look for and embed those criteria into a CASPer specific answer model.
1. Progression: We will start with untimed practice to nail structure, safety, and clarity; then move to timed drills (90–150s); finish with full exam-conditions mocks (real pacing + response windows).
4. Timing & clarity: How to be concise under pressure without sounding robotic; drills to hit clean, defensible answers.
5. Guided practice: Live prompts in session + marked take-home prompts (written feedback and/or voice notes).
6. Resources: CASPer Booklet (templates, model responses, timed practice sets) we work through together.
Why learn with me
I know how to maximise scores and maximise what you get from each lesson: high-yield frameworks, deliberate practice, rubric-based feedback, and targeted homework mocks.
Evidence of performance: Strong UCAT/CASPer/GAMSAT S2 results and offers back it up
Dual-system insight (AU + UK): I’ve prepped successfully for both pathways, so you learn what actually works.
