Hi, I’m Nethum. I’m a full time Engineering student at Swinburne University of Technology and an experienced maths and science tutor for primary and high school students. I specialise in explaining concepts clearly, step by step, and helping students build strong fundamentals that make schoolwork easier and more enjoyable.

I began tutoring in November 2024 as a student mentor at Nawaloka College of Higher Studies (NCHS), where I supported foundation and Unilink Diploma students in mathematics and science. I was selected for this position based on my strong academic performance and my ability to simplify challenging content for my peers. I also received a formal certificate of recognition for my tutoring work.

Since moving to Australia, I have continued tutoring both online and in person. I currently tutor younger students as well, including a 10 year old, and I adapt my teaching style to match each student’s age, level, and learning pace. Whether it is homework help, catching up, extension work, or preparing for tests, I focus on making sure the student truly understands the concepts rather than memorising steps.

Experience

I began tutoring in November 2024 as a student mentor at Nawaloka College of Higher Studies (NCHS), the exclusive Sri Lankan partner for Swinburne University of Technology. I was selected due to my strong academic results and my ability to explain challenging concepts in a simple and structured way.

Since then, I have provided ongoing support in mathematics and science to foundation and diploma level students, helping them improve their understanding, grades, and confidence. I continue to tutor students remotely while studying full time in Australia, and I have recently started working with local students as well, including primary level learners.

My tutoring style is patient, clear, and step by step. I adapt my teaching to each student’s level and focus on building strong fundamentals before moving to advanced problem solving. I am currently teaching mathematics on a weekly basis and have received positive feedback from students and parents.
