As a tutor, my focus is on helping senior students excel in their courses, particularly Preliminary and HSC courses. Sessions aim to develop their skills and confidence in critical thinking, writing skills (e.g. essay writing, creative and reflective writing, source analysis and short answer responses), exam skills and study skills. My sessions are personalised to each students' goals and needs.

I believe that one-on-one and small group support is incredibly powerful in helping students achieve their potential, and the growth that I have seen from individual weekly sessions compared with their prior in-class growth for many students has been significant. I love the power of tutoring to unlock confidence and motivation, and to help them flourish as learners.

Each of my students receives their own Google Drive folder with lesson materials, homework, scaffolds for class tasks and assessments, and resources to support broader subject/topic understanding. This facilitates growth in between sessions and helps students to feel more in control of their learning. I have experience supporting students with learning difficulties, including significant experience supporting students with ADHD and Dyslexia.

Experience

I am a trained English/History teacher with 13 years' teaching experience in both public and private schools. I taught in Novocastrian and Hunter Valley Schools from 2013-2024. I have recently moved to accept a job outside of the area, but am continuing my tutoring online. I have been tutoring English and History to high school students since 2012.

The majority of my teaching experience is in the following subject areas:
- English Years' 7-12 (including a regular focus on Stage 6 Standard, Advanced and Extension English subjects)
- History (7-12 (with a primary focus on Stage 5 History and Stage 6 Modern History).

Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary)/Bachelor of Arts
+ over a decade of teaching experience.
