Geelong tutor in Chemistry

I pride myself on my ability to break down complex theories and build a student’s understanding from the ground up. I have an intimate understanding of the VCE Chemistry design and have worked with other schools and external companies to write practice exams and school assessed coursework for both Year 11 and Year 12. I can highlight which skills are the most valuable to spend time on, and break down the assessment patterns present in challenging topics such as Stoichiometry, Redox, Titration and Organic Chemistry. I can also help you understand how the new Green Chemistry elements of the study design can be examined.

I will help you understand how to use the VCE Chemistry Data booklet as a vital support tool, and how to meaningfully use your time in SAC's and Exams.

I bring with me a wealth of experience and resources I can share as practice material. We can work from the ground up, starting with the fundamentals of important topics, or work towards more advanced examination style questions.

Experience

For the past ten years I have been working as a Senior Chemistry teacher and school leader at Suzanne Cory High School, one of the four high performing select-entry schools in Victoria and top 100 schools in Australia. I was appointed as a Learning Specialist for three years, with a specialty in coaching other teachers in building positive and meaningful connections with students in the classroom. In 2024 I was nominated as one of the top three finalists for Outstanding Secondary Teacher at the Victorian Education Excellence awards.

Teaching in a Senior Chemistry classroom is my pride and joy, and tutoring while on maternity leave will help me keep that spark alight.
