Qualified teacher in Legal Studies and SOC
Sydney tutor in Legal Studies, Society and Culture, Essay Writing, Study Skills, Geography, History, Singing, Teacher Training
I travel to these locations
North Shore, Northern BeachesI am a former lawyer and now qualified NSW high school teacher offering private tutoring for students in Years 7–12, with a particular specialisation in HSC Legal Studies and Preliminary Society and Culture. I also teach junior HSIE subjects such as Commerce, History, Geography and Philosophy.
I am available for tutoring Monday and Thursday afternoons after 4:00pm, as well as weekends by negotiation. I am able to offer online sessions or in-person tutoring by arrangement at the student's home or in a public space near to the North Shore of Sydney. The best way to contact me is by text.
As a practising classroom teacher, I have strong, up-to-date knowledge of the NSW syllabus and assessment requirements across a range of subjects. I have taught Preliminary and HSC Legal Studies, Preliminary Society and Culture, and my students have achieved strong results. In 2025, all members of my HSC Legal Studies class achieved a Band 6 and received entry into law degrees. I am also familiar with the new Legal Studies syllabus changes, to be implemented for Preliminary students from 2027.
Many students understand the content but struggle to express their ideas clearly, use technical jargon or meet marking criteria — this is an area I particularly enjoy working on. I am also happy to provide just marking and feedback support for HSC Legal Studies if needed.
My approach is structured, supportive and skill-focused. I place a strong emphasis on:
* Essay structure and sustained argument
* Evidence analysis and evaluation
* Using syllabus language and key terms effectively
* Understanding marking criteria and examiner expectations
* Developing independent study skills
Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs and usually include a clear learning goal, explicit skill instruction, worked examples, and targeted practice. Where appropriate, I provide written feedback, model responses, scaffolds, and revision strategies.
I am happy to use students’ school materials, as well as my own materials.
My primary specialisation is in Legal Studies and Society and Culture, but I am capable of supporting students with writing and analysis in other subjects if required. I also studied a law degree at Macquarie University, so could tutor in law if required.
I look forward to hearing from you.
