Why I Enjoy Tutoring
I enjoy tutoring because I love seeing the moment when something that once seemed difficult suddenly becomes clear to a student. It is especially rewarding to watch learners become more confident as they develop their Korean skills and begin using the language naturally in real-life situations.
I also enjoy helping students discover the connection between Korean language and culture. For me, learning a language is not simply about memorising grammar and vocabulary—it is also about understanding the people, culture, and context behind the language.
My Approach to Tutoring
My lessons are:
Structured but flexible — lessons have a clear direction while remaining adaptable to your needs.
Concept-focused — I focus on helping you understand how and why Korean works, rather than relying on memorisation alone.
Personalised — I adjust the pace, materials, and activities according to your level and goals.
Interactive — I regularly check your understanding and give you opportunities to actively use Korean.
A typical lesson may include:
Review of previous material
Introduction and explanation of new concepts
Guided practice
Conversation, role-play, or independent practice
Summary and homework or self-study recommendations
I will make sure you leave each lesson knowing what you have learned and what you can work on before our next session.
Levels and Learners
I welcome Korean learners at all levels, from complete beginners to advanced students.
I can help with:
Beginner Korean — Hangul, pronunciation, basic grammar, and everyday expressions
Intermediate Korean — conversation, grammar, vocabulary, and fluency
Advanced Korean — natural conversation, advanced grammar, and more nuanced expressions
TOPIK preparation — listening, vocabulary, reading, and writing
University students — academic Korean and language support
Adult learners — Korean for personal interest, travel, work, or professional development
Korean culture — learning about Korean customs, society, and contemporary culture alongside the language
Additional Information
I am patient, attentive, and committed to creating a comfortable environment where students can ask questions and make mistakes without feeling pressured.
Whether you are learning Korean for travel, personal interest, study, work, or a future career involving Korea, I will help you develop practical language skills and confidence at your own pace.

Experience
I have been teaching Korean as a foreign language since 2015, with over 11 years of experience working with learners from different countries, age groups, and educational backgrounds. My teaching experience spans Japan, Korea, the UK, and Colombia, both in person and online.
University & International Students
Gifu University, Japan (2009–2013): Taught Korean to Japanese and international exchange students preparing to study in Korea. I supported learners with practical Korean communication as well as cultural preparation for living and studying in Korea.
Middlesex University, UK (2015–2017): Taught Korean language and culture to university students from diverse international backgrounds, adapting lessons to different levels and learning needs.
National University of Colombia (2025–2026): Currently teaching Korean language and culture to university students, including Korean language courses and cultural activities.
Community & Cultural Education
NICE NGO, Japan (2010–2011): Taught basic Korean expressions and Korean culture to people with disabilities, adapting activities to make language learning accessible and engaging.
Multicultural Family Support Center, Korea (2013–2014): Taught Korean to members of multicultural families, focusing on practical language skills needed for everyday life in Korea.
Online Korean Teaching
Online tutoring (2016–2026): Taught Korean to learners from around the world through online one-to-one lessons. I have worked with students ranging from complete beginners to more advanced learners and have helped them develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
Through these experiences, I have learned that there is no single approach to language teaching. I adapt my lessons according to each student's level, learning style, interests, and goals, whether they are learning Korean for travel, personal interest, university study, professional purposes, or TOPIK preparation.
My international teaching experience has also given me a strong understanding of the challenges learners face when learning Korean from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. I enjoy helping students not only learn Korean, but also understand the cultural context behind the language.
