 Melbourne - Chadstone

Melbourne Medical Student (and huge nerd) - Experienced tutor

Melbourne tutor in Algebra, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Creative Writing, English, Essay Writing, Further Maths, GAMSAT, General Maths, General Science, Geometry, Health Studies, Human Biology, Maths, Medical Doctor, Medical Interviews, Medicine, Microbiology, Physics, Physiology, Psychology, Reading, Special Needs, Statistics, Study Skills

My guiding philosophy is that it is better to teach students how to think than to give them loads of homework and try to turn them into mindless drones.

I strongly encourage parents to seek out other tutors if they want someone who will have formulaic lesson plans and a one-size fits all approach to tutoring. My value is in using my well-honed judgement and my considerable experience in the educational system to design an approach which works best for the student in front of me.

I've got a few spots left for 1:1 and group tutoring, with significant discounts available on group sessions. I'm located in the Chadstone area and do my classes in-person and over zoom.

Experience

I have been tutoring for several years now, taking students from year 8s to university students applying for medical schools. I'd like to think I taught them not only what was required for their immediate assessments, but also things that would be beneficial for the years ahead.

Qualifications

My background:

I attended Nossal high school, for which I received 3 ‘superior’ results (the highest category available) on my entrance exam.

Following high school, I completed a double degree in Biomedicine and Science (for which I majored in chemistry) at Monash University. During this time, I also completed some statistics, astrophysics, and psychology units.

While completing my bachelors, I sat the GAMSAT twice, with my top marks being 72 in section 1 (top 2%) 67 in section 2 (top 16%), and 90 in section 3 (top 0.1%). I received an offer for an interview on my first application and was accepted to the University of Melbourne Doctor of Medicine course as a CSP student.

I am now completing a Masters of Public Health at the University of Melbourne for which I received a scholarship to study while completing my medical degree.
