Melbourne tutor in English Language, General Maths

I am a dedicated and approachable tutor and a 2025 graduate of Haileybury Girls College, with a strong focus on helping students build both confidence and academic performance. Having recently completed VCE, I understand the demands of the curriculum firsthand, as well as what is required to achieve strong results in exams and assessments.

I specialise in breaking down complex concepts into clear, simple steps so students can fully understand the content rather than just memorising it. My goal is to help students become independent learners who can apply their knowledge effectively under exam conditions.

I am currently available for tutoring on weekdays after school and weekends, with flexible online or in-person sessions depending on location. I am happy to meet at convenient locations such as libraries or tutor online for accessibility.

My strongest areas are VCE Biology, Chemistry, and English, but I also support younger year levels in building strong foundational skills across science and literacy. Having recently experienced the VCE system, I understand the pressure students face and how to strategically improve performance.

My tutoring approach is structured but adaptable. I begin by identifying gaps in understanding, then teach key concepts step-by-step, followed by targeted practice questions to reinforce learning. I also place strong emphasis on exam technique, including how to interpret questions, structure high-scoring responses, and manage time effectively.

I provide my own concise notes, summary sheets, and practice questions tailored to the student’s level. I also support students in reviewing schoolwork and assessments to ensure tutoring aligns directly with what they are learning in class.

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing students go from feeling overwhelmed or unsure to becoming confident and capable learners. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes.

I tutor VCE students that need help in English and General Math with a focus on improving grades, confidence, and long-term understanding.

Experience

I’ve developed tutoring experience through consistently supporting students to strengthen both their understanding and confidence across a range of subjects, particularly science and essay-based learning. My approach is not just about helping students get the right answer, but helping them understand 'why' the answer is correct, so they can apply the concept independently in exams and assignments.

I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, logical steps and tailoring my explanations to suit each student’s learning style whether that’s visual, step-by-step problem solving, or discussion-based learning. I also place a strong emphasis on exam technique, including how to interpret questions, structure responses, and manage time effectively under pressure.

Beyond content knowledge, I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions without hesitation. I understand that confidence plays a major role in academic performance, and I work to build that alongside subject mastery.

Overall, my goal is to help students move from confusion to clarity, and from passive learning to independent problem-solving, so they can perform at their best both in school and beyond.
