Hi, I’m Sneha; a highly academic and qualified Canberra Girls Grammar year 12 student who has worked with Primary and High School students in areas of Mathematics and English (Literature and English advanced).

For roughly 80% of students in the ACT, English is the subject that ends up contributing towards their atar- even when it is not expected to. Building the skills from early on, to be able to tackle a range of assessment types is highly effective, and is what most top scoring students focus on to differentiate themselves from their cohort.

As a current student in the BSSS schooling system, I have developed a passion for helping students excel in their english studies, strengthening their confidence and enabling them to achieve their personal and academic goals. I am currently undertaking the Literature and English advanced courses at my school, scoring in the top 5% of my cohort, equipping me with the tools to assist in a diverse range of areas within the English curriculum. From in-class essay preparation, to one-on-one guidance with all aspects of writing (structure, fluidity, sophistication, effectiveness), my goal is to provide students with the resources to be able to confidently develop unique viewpoints and ideas that drive their academic success. I also provide resources such as exemplar question and answer, past examinations and my personal notes and collated work from previous years to provide invaluable insight into the content of high scoring responses.

Particularly in a highly technologically advanced landscape, I aim to inspire students to look beyond AI tools and study resources for assistance, but rather, build the confidence, through practise, to formulate unique and original responses that will effectively reach teacher marking guides.

Structure of lessons:
?? Going through course work and consolidate weekly content to ensure understanding
?? Depending on upcoming assessment task (in-class essay, academic journal, creative task), preparation for assignment may include practise paragraph planning and writing, essay preparation, providing one on one guidance on writing, brainstorming etc.
?? One-on-one guidance with textual analysis and notes/resources for chosen texts
?? Providing resources for students; sample assessments, past exam examples, practise questions and answers according to the syllabus and model essay responses.

Experience

As a year 12 student at Canberra Girls Grammar School, I have experience tutoring high school mathematics in years 7-10 at. In addition, I am a high-achieving Year 12 student with strong results in Literature and English, and I am confident supporting students with essay writing, text analysis, and study skills.

Qualifications

As a current BSSS student, I have recent and firsthand experience with the ACT curriculum, assessment requirements, and marking criteria for students that are approaching their senior year. My familiarity with teacher marking modules, assessment structures, and successful study techniques enables me to help students build confidence, improve their writing skills, and perform strongly across a wide range of assessment types. I am passionate about helping students develop their analytical thinking, communication skills, and independent learning habits while creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Similarly, having completed multiple courses of English, and an additional course of senior Literature, I have high familiarity with texts commonly examined in classes- including additional study resources and past exams.

Particularly in an age where AI tools and study resources are significantly prevalent, teachers are becoming highly familiar with generic responses and formulaic answers. With this in mind, I aim to equip students with familiarity in their content and the confidence to articulate their original ideas in a manner that effectively captures school rubrics and marking criteria.
