Melbourne tutor in Algebra, Calculus, Engineering, Maths, Study Skills

I travel to these locations
Monash University, Endeavour Hills, Cranbourne West

Hi, I'm Jishan, an 18-year-old graduate of Nossal High School, a selective-entry school, where I completed VCE Specialist Mathematics and Mathematical Methods. I'm currently studying a double degree in Engineering and Commerce at Monash University.

I have previously tutored multiple students in maths and have also helped others with schoolwork in a more informal setting. My approach is to break concepts down into simple steps, make sure the student understands the reasoning behind each method, and then build their confidence through practice. I’ve always found maths easiest to learn when ideas are explained clearly from the ground up, so that is the same approach I bring to tutoring.

I tutor Maths from primary school through to Year 10, covering foundational number skills, fractions, decimals, percentages, algebra, geometry, and early high-school problem solving, such as pre-calculus and calculus(includes preparation for later VCE subjects such as Mathematical Methods and Specialist Maths). I start by understanding where the student is currently at, what they already understand, and which areas are causing confusion, rather than assuming based only on their year level. That is why I offer a free 25–30 minute introductory session before any paid lessons begin.

Lessons usually run for 60-70 minutes and can include help with current schoolwork, revising difficult topics, targeted practice on specific gaps, going back over anything that did not fully make sense the first time or covering school work in advance to distinguish students from their peers. I use a mix of the student’s school material and extra practice questions suited to their needs, rather than relying on a generic worksheet pack.

Outside of tutoring and university, I play a lot of cricket. I’m easygoing, patient, and like to keep sessions relaxed, so students feel comfortable asking questions without feeling embarrassed.

I’m available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons/evenings, with some flexibility for the right fit. Lessons can take place in person around Endeavour Hills, Cranbourne West, Monash University, or online. The best way to contact me is by phone or email, both are listed below.

I have previously tutored two students in mathematics, helping them with schoolwork, building confidence, and improving their understanding of key concepts. I focus on explaining topics clearly and step-by-step, making sure students understand the method rather than just memorizing answers. I tutor mathematics from primary school up to Year 9.
