Mr Lachlan Campain

 Melbourne - Lang Lang

Melbourne Primary and Secondary Maths Tutor.

Melbourne tutor in Algebra, Calculus, General Maths, General Science, Geometry, Maths, Statistics

I am currently available for tutoring on weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as Saturday mornings. I aim to be flexible where possible to accommodate student and family schedules, particularly during assessment and exam periods.

The best way to contact me is via phone or email, and I respond to enquiries promptly to arrange sessions or discuss student needs.

Tutoring sessions can be held at a mutually convenient location, including my home, the student’s home (depending on location), or online via video call.

As a qualified secondary Mathematics teacher and registered Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) educator, I bring several years of classroom experience working across Years 7–12 Mathematics. I have supported students of all abilities, including those requiring additional support as well as students aiming for extension and high achievement in assessments and exams.

I genuinely enjoy tutoring because it allows me to work closely with students in a way that builds confidence and understanding at their own pace. Seeing students move from confusion to clarity and develop confidence in their ability to solve problems is extremely rewarding.

My main areas of expertise include Years 7–10 Mathematics, General Mathematics, Numeracy, Algebra, Statistics, Probability, and exam preparation. I also have strong experience supporting students in developing foundational numeracy skills and improving overall confidence in mathematics.

My approach to tutoring is student-centred and flexible. I focus on identifying gaps in understanding, revisiting foundational skills where needed, and building up to more complex concepts in a structured and supportive way. I aim to create a calm and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

Lessons are typically structured with a short review of previous learning, followed by targeted teaching of new concepts, guided practice, and independent problem-solving. I regularly adjust lessons based on student progress and school requirements, including upcoming SACs, tests, or exams.

I provide tailored worksheets, targeted practice questions, and clear summary notes where appropriate. I also recommend textbooks and online resources that align with the Victorian Curriculum and student learning goals.

I offer tutoring for lower and middle secondary school students through to senior mathematics, including exam preparation support. I am also experienced in working with students who need foundational skill development or confidence-building in numeracy.

Above all, my goal is to help students develop confidence, independence, and a strong understanding of mathematics that supports them both in school and beyond.
