Hi, I'm Poppy, a second-year medical student at Monash University, and currently a tutor for kids years 1 to Senior IB for Maths, English and Sciences. I'm a very dedicated, enthusiastic, people-person, so I really love tutoring because I thrive off adapting to each new student's personality and working together with them to create whatever individual strategy helps them learn best. Above all, I value communication as the best tool to achieve excellent results; I want my students to feeling comfortable making mistakes, and voicing questions or worries when content is confusing.

I specialise in IB Maths AA SL, English L&L, Biology and Psychology (SL & HL). However I am also an experienced tutor of primary and secondary students in these areas (300+ hours). I graduated with subject prizes and IB 7s in the above subjects (bar English, IB 6), and was a Maxima Cum Laude student every year of my secondary schooling.

My approach to tutoring is to adapt to my students- mostly by learning how you learn best. Prior to first lesson, I introduce myself over zoom and identify areas you particularly want help in, so I can prepare content ahead of time. During the lesson, I often start with quick revision, then move into introducing new content, and having the student apply it. I use a variety of methods- having you "teach" me, using analogies, practice questions, collaborative diagrams etc.- but they differ depending on the student and what works. If I see an approach isn't working, I'm quick to switch to a different method of teaching until we find something that works.

Hours: I have available tutoring hours Mon, Thurs and Friday evenings, and Saturday mornings.
