First-Class Honours Mathematician Turning Confusion into Confidence
Adelaide tutor in Algebra, Calculus, Further Maths, General Maths, Geometry, Maths, Maths Methods, Maths Specialist, Statistics
I hold a First-Class Honours degree in Mathematics from the National University of Singapore, and I've spent the past ten years teaching and tutoring, from lecturing engineering mathematics at a polytechnic, to working as a university teaching assistant, to now tutoring students privately and teaching at Adelaide tutoring centres.
I'm also a published mathematics researcher (my undergraduate thesis led to a first-author paper at one of the top AI research conferences) and co-author of a published Linear Algebra textbook. But honestly, the thing I care most about isn't the credentials, it's the moment a concept finally clicks for a student who's been stuck on it for weeks.
A lot of students come to me having decided they're "just not a maths person." Usually that's not true, it's that no one's yet explained it in a way that actually made sense to them. I don't use generic worksheets; I build materials specifically around where each student is, focusing on the "why" behind a method, not just the steps to memorise. I want students to leave a session not just knowing the answer, but understanding it well enough to trust their own reasoning on the next problem.
I teach students from Years 7 through to SACE Stage 1 and 2 Mathematics (Mathematical Methods, Specialist, General, and Essential), as well as Undergraduate Mathematics, and I have experience with the International Baccalaureate too. Whether you're catching up, aiming for top marks, or just want maths to finally make sense, I'd love to help.
