NSW Central West tutor in Music Theory, Piano

I'm Edward, a young, aspiring composer who got a Band 6 in HSC music and had my HSC Compositions nominated for Encore. I plan on going to the Sydney Conservatorium to study Composition, and currently undertake a couple of the Conservatory's short courses.

I like to prioritise enjoyment when it comes to teaching Music. I encourage students to play or compose music that they like to listen to, whilst still promoting a good technique. I will happily prepare students for exams if that is necessary.

I started learning Piano only in 2021, but advanced very quickly to a high level and got a band 6 in my HSC performances, playing Chopin's Nocturne in F and Liszt's Liebestraume no.3. I also received a band 6 for my Compositions and the music theory exam.

I am currently learning Scriabin's 4th Sonata. On the composition side, I recently made a String quartet for the Music composition short course I took at the Sydney Conservatorium, and am in the process of learning various DAWs such as ProTools, Logic, FL Studio, and Ableton.

Experience

I have done a lot of programs in school, related to teaching and mentoring younger students. For example:
- Peer support: where I mentored a group of Year 7 students each week to give them study advice and help them settle in to high school (whilst I was in year 11 at the time)
- Thailand Outreach: a group of Year 11 students including myself travelled to Thailand with the school to educate children over Thailand in English, Maths, Science, etc

Qualifications

- Band 6 in Music HSC (95/100)
- My HSC Compositions were nominated for Encore
- Have completed the Music Composition short course at the Sydney conservatorium
- Prospective Composition student at the Sydney conservatorium
- Have performed many advanced Piano pieces such as Liszt La Campanella, Liszt Liebestraume no.3, Debussy Clair de Lune
