I am a current Science teacher with extensive experience teaching HSC Biology to Years 11 and 12 students, helping many students achieve strong results and build the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their HSC. I have also supported students to develop strong foundation skills, study habits and learning strategies that can benefit them throughout their education. Alongside teaching, I have developed programs and resources designed to engage students with different abilities, learning styles and levels of prior knowledge.

I particularly enjoy tutoring because of the moment when a student finally understands something that they have previously struggled with. As a younger teacher, I have found that building a strong rapport with students and explaining concepts in a way that makes sense to them can make a huge difference. Seeing that "lightbulb moment" and watching a student become more confident in their ability is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

My main areas of expertise are Years 7-10 Science and Mathematics, with a particular focus on HSC Biology. I have four years of experience teaching Biology to Years 11 and 12 with strong student outcomes and positive feedback. I also have university-level Chemistry knowledge and experience supporting students with Chemistry through mentoring. I particularly enjoy working with students who may have gaps in their knowledge, helping them make connections between concepts and develop the study habits and foundational skills needed to become more independent learners.

My tutoring approach starts with understanding the student. Every student learns differently, so I take the time to identify their strengths, concerns, knowledge gaps and preferred learning style before developing lessons around what they actually need. Rather than simply working through content, I focus on building understanding and helping students develop strategies they can use independently.

Lessons are generally structured around clear learning intentions and success criteria, with a discussion at the beginning to identify areas of concern or topics the student would like to focus on. From there, I tailor questions, explanations, examples and study guides to target those areas. The aim is for students to leave each session not only understanding the topic better, but also feeling more confident about how to approach their learning themselves.

I am currently a HSC Science Teacher and have many years of experience teaching and supporting students across a range of abilities and learning needs. I have successfully supported students to achieve Band 6 results in Biology, while also working closely with students who require additional support to develop their understanding of core scientific concepts.

My approach is not solely focused on high-achieving students. I place a strong emphasis on building a solid understanding of Science for every student and identifying concepts or skills that may have been missed or misunderstood previously. By understanding how individual students learn best, I am able to adapt my teaching strategies and target specific areas of difficulty. This allows me to break down complex concepts, address learning gaps and develop students' confidence and comprehension in targeted areas.
