Hi, I’m Shimon “Shim” Moore — a platinum-selling singer, guitarist and songwriter, and the original frontman of Sick Puppies. I offer private guitar, singing, songwriting and performance lessons for teenagers and adults, in Roseville and online.

I bring more than 25 years of professional music experience, including international touring, recording and songwriting. I also run Shim’s Rockstar Academy and previously worked as a performance and songwriting coach with Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy.

I enjoy helping people make music they’re proud of. Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time, returning to singing or preparing for a gig, we’ll work towards something that matters to you.

My main teaching areas include:

* Guitar: chords, strumming, rhythm, riffs, song learning and acoustic accompaniment.
* Singing: phrasing, dynamics, expression, song interpretation and confidence.
* Singing while playing guitar: coordination, timing and arranging songs for your voice and instrument.
* Songwriting: developing lyrics, melodies, structure and unfinished song ideas.
* Performance: stage presence, microphone technique, managing nerves and connecting with an audience.

My teaching style is friendly, direct and practical. I explain things clearly, demonstrate what I mean and give you time to try it yourself. Questions are welcome, and we’ll adjust the pace to suit your experience.

In our first lesson, we’ll discuss your goals and explore your current playing or singing so I can understand where to start. Ongoing lessons combine a review of your practice, focused work on a skill or challenge, and applying it to a song. You’ll leave with specific exercises or song sections to work on before we meet again.

We’ll use music you enjoy alongside exercises chosen to support your progress. Beginners and returning learners can build their foundations, while developing performers can focus on delivery, arrangements and preparing for the stage or studio.

Lessons are available at my Roseville studio on Sydney’s North Shore or online via Zoom. Lesson days and times are arranged directly to suit our schedules.

Experience

My tutoring experience includes private coaching and live group workshops for singers, songwriters and developing performers. I run Shim’s Rockstar Academy and previously worked as a performance and songwriting coach with Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy.

I’ve coached students on song interpretation, vocal expression, songwriting, stage presence and performance confidence. This includes giving individual feedback, demonstrating techniques and helping students turn an idea or challenge into something specific they can practise. I also develop course materials and practical songwriting and performance exercises.

Alongside my coaching, I bring more than 25 years of professional experience as a singer, guitarist and songwriter, including 17 years as the original frontman of Sick Puppies. That background allows me to connect musical skills with the practical demands of rehearsing, recording and performing.

I’ve worked with adults, teenagers and emerging artists, adapting my approach to their experience and goals. My style is patient, direct and encouraging, with clear explanations and useful feedback.
