**About my tutoring**
I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to work closely with individual learners and respond to their specific needs, interests and pace. I particularly enjoy seeing their progress more directly and helping them build confidence over time.
My main areas of expertise are primary English, literacy and mathematics, general learning support, and Korean language education.
I teach Korean to children, teenagers and adults, including complete beginners, bilingual learners and heritage-language learners who want to strengthen their reading, writing, speaking, vocabulary or overall confidence in Korean.
I also bring professional experience in media and communication in both Australia and Korea, including work with SBS Korean Radio. This background supports my ability to teach language clearly and naturally, particularly in speaking, writing and communication.
I can also support learners preparing for IELTS, drawing on my own experience of preparing for and sitting the test. My highest overall IELTS score is Band 8. Across different test sittings, my highest individual scores have been Listening 9, Reading 9, Writing 8 and Speaking 8.5.
**My approach**
My approach is structured but flexible. I first identify the learner’s current level, goals, interests and areas of confidence or difficulty, then plan lessons around these needs.
For children, lessons are developmentally appropriate and may include visual materials, games, short activities, guided practice and play-based learning where suitable.
For teenagers and adults, lessons are tailored to individual goals and interests. These may include conversation, travel, family communication, Korean culture, reading, writing, grammar, pronunciation or practical everyday Korean.
I aim to make lessons encouraging and practical. I want students to understand what they are learning, rather than simply memorising answers, and to leave each lesson feeling more confident and independent.
**Lesson structure**
Lesson structure varies depending on the learner’s age, level and goals.
For children, lessons generally include a combination of explicit teaching, guided practice and engaging activities. Younger children may have shorter, more varied or play-based tasks to help maintain attention and enjoyment.
For adults, lessons are built around their individual goals and interests, with an appropriate balance of speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar.
Worksheets and learning materials are provided where appropriate.
**Levels of tutoring offered**
• Literacy and Numeracy: Primary school level
• Korean: All ages and levels
• IELTS support: Best suited to students aiming for approximately Listening 7.0, Reading 7.0 and Writing 6.0 at most.
My personal highest IELTS scores are: Listening 9, Reading 9, Writing 8 and Speaking 8.5.
