Canberra RegionABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Govind Sasikumar. I am a PhD graduate in Electrical Engineering from UNSW Canberra, with a strong academic background in Physics and Mathematics.
I have 2 years of dedicated tutoring experience, primarily in Mathematics and Physics, working with primary and secondary students through individual, group and home-visit tutoring. I also have experience supporting tertiary students in a university environment.
My academic background allows me to teach both fundamental concepts and more advanced mathematical and physics topics, while adapting lessons to suit each student's level and learning needs.
MY TEACHING APPROACH
I believe effective tutoring is about developing understanding, rather than simply memorising formulas or following procedures.
I first identify where a student is struggling and then break the topic down into clear, manageable steps. I explain the reasoning behind each concept and give students opportunities to apply what they have learned through guided problem-solving.
I adapt the pace and depth of each lesson to the individual student. Whether a student needs help strengthening fundamentals, keeping up with schoolwork, preparing for examinations, or tackling more challenging material, I aim to provide the appropriate level of support.
My goal is to help students become confident and increasingly independent problem-solvers.
MY TUTORING EXPERIENCE
I have 2 years of dedicated tutoring experience in Mathematics and Physics.
For one year, I provided private tutoring at home, working with students individually as well as in small groups.
I then worked for one year as a Mathematics and Physics tutor at St. Peter’s Academy, where I provided group tutoring and home-visit tutoring. I prepared curriculum-aligned lessons and examination-preparation materials and worked with students with different levels of understanding.
I have also gained experience supporting tertiary students at UNSW Canberra, including assisting students in an engineering subject through Equitable Learning Services and preparing clear and accessible study materials.

WHY I TUTOR
I enjoy tutoring because it is rewarding to see a student progress from struggling with a concept to understanding it clearly and being able to solve problems independently.
I aim to make lessons clear, supportive and intellectually engaging, while helping students develop mathematical and problem-solving skills that remain useful beyond a single test or assignment.
