I enjoy using my experience and my love of learning to assist students to become enthusiastic, happy, confident learners.

In some cases I can offer 30 minute lessons initially, if the hour's cost would prevent a student commencing lessons.

For students with diagnosed Dyslexia I welcome parents participating in lessons, to understand the content, structure and approach to phonics, spelling and reading.

Yes, there will be 'homework' but hopefully it's fun too!

Experience

Tutoring: Twenty Years Experience. Building caring, learning relationships with students of all ages, their parents and other support workers if required.
I've successfully tutored primary aged students with diagnoses of dyslexia and students filling in their knowledge gaps with English, Spelling, Reading, Comprehension, Grammar, Writing and Speaking. I learned a teaching method for positive achievement, consistent academic development with student outcomes displaying continued confidence and self esteem. I welcome a parent to lessons if this is considered appropriate for the needs of the student.

Teaching: Academics
I was employed with Education Queensland teaching primary classes for five years.

Speech, Drama & Communication.
Taking leave from the Education Department, I branched into full time Speech & Drama teaching at MacGregor Primary School, where I operated a studio, teaching individual, pair and small group lessons. I formed Speech Choirs [Years 2/3; 4/5; 6/7] to perform at school functions, shoppping centres and Eisteddfodeau.
Progressing to John Paul College as Speech & Drama Co-ordinator, I taught classes from Prep to Year 7. I formed, taught & conducted Speech Choirs - Year 1 / Year 2/3 Year 4/5 Year 6/7.
Progressing to Forest Lake College as the Speech & Drama Co-ordinator and class specialist teacher, I again formed, conducted Speech Choirs to perform at College functions, Eisteddfodeau and Examinations.
I continued teaching students privately and submitting students for Examinations & Eisteddfodeau.
Forest Lake College & The Springfield College [sister schools] I was tasked with developing the after school Performing Arts Private Teaching Program. I had twenty two teachers tutoring in the Instrumental & Vocal Music, Speech & Drama and Highland Dance areas.

After retiring from the Colleges I focussed on privately tutoring children with individual learning styles to improve their skills & strategies in Spelling, Reading, Comprehension, Grammar, Writing and Speaking to Communicate effectively.
I continue to enjoy working enthusiastically with students interested in Academic improvement and/or their Presentation and Performance Skills.

B.Ed. Bachelor of Education. DipT Primary. Diploma of Teaching Primary.
Associate Trinity College London - Teaching Practical & Written Theory. Speech Drama and Communication;
Licentiate Trinity College London - Teaching Practical. Speech Drama and Communication.
