Bendigo tutor in Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, Essay Writing, General Maths, General Science, History, Maths, Study Skills

Hello! 🩷

My availability changes based on my uni timetable, but I'm currently available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays :) I do Zoom (online) tutoring.

If interested, please contact me by text message 0415 765 794

As previously mentioned, I'm currently a third-year dental student studying at La Trobe University. I've been tutoring for two years, and I'm also a group fitness instructor at my gym (so spend a lot of time motivating, teaching, and helping people!)

My students and families tell me I'm friendly, flexible, patient, and good at explaining things. I love tutoring as I love seeing students succeed and genuinely care about them and their futures. There's nothing more satisfying to me than seeing the 'lightbulb' moment! 💡

I'm best at QCAA year 12 biology, chemistry, modern history, and ancient history. However, I tutor in several subject areas for various age groups.

My tutoring is flexible - I work with families and students to plan what would be most beneficial. I often go through practice questions (since I find this provides the best results and understanding), explain concepts using teaching materials, draft assignments (if interested, please ask for more information and I'd be happy to explain my approach here!), and more. I usually structure my lessons starting with anything to clarify from school, then move on to what we've already planned, then summarise at the end. 🩷

Experience

Hello! My name is Sophie, and I've been tutoring students of all ages (grades 5-12) online for two years now. I have tutored primary maths, middle school science and maths, and QCAA senior biology and chemistry. My services include concept clarification an teaching, revision, university application help, assignment drafting, and test preparation - I work alongside my students/families to tailor each session based on their needs and wants! 🩷

I've had really great results with my students - many full-mark assessments and two medicine offers. However, my proudest achievement is when my students tell me I explain things well :)

I charge $30/hr for primary and middle school students, and $40/hr for year 11/12s. I also only do Zoom tutoring since I study interstate, however my students seem to like the setup thanks to its flexibility. 🩷

Qualifications

Having completed years 11 and 12 in Queensland, I am qualified for QCAA senior subjects - biology, chemistry, modern history, and ancient history. I am also qualified to tutor Australian Curriculum (any state!) maths (years 5-9), history (years 5-10), and science (years 5-10).

I am currently entering my third year of dental school at La Trobe University, having received excellent year 12 QCE results. I was awarded a Subject Achievement Commendation for biology as I received 100% on all of my year 12 biology assessments, including the external exam, and, therefore, am on the QCE 2024 Achievement Awards Honour Roll. I also received excellent results in chemistry (97), modern history (97), and ancient history (96). I was the dux of both ancient and modern history in year 12 at my school.
