Literacy
I specialise in the five areas of reading skills: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. I use methods from the Florida Centre for Reading Research to develop confidence and fluency.
I know all the criteria used to assess writing as I was a writing assessor for the NAPLAN 2013 program. I can assist with preparation for NAPLAN in all writing genres.

Numeracy
I use the world leading Singapore Maths system which has been adopted for the Australian school curriculum called Prime Mathematics. Based on developing problem solving skills to best approach NAPLAN and to become proficient in applying maths skills in life. The program uses the CPA (concrete, pictorial, abstract) teaching method which focuses on fewer concepts in greater detail. Introduced in 2019, my students are responding extremely well to the new approach. This is exactly the approach adopted in the new Mathematics syllabus introduced in 2024 in NSW.

Building a Confident and Happy Student
With over 20 years experience as a primary school teacher and a writing assessment marker in the NAPLAN 2013, I can assist your child in all key learning areas. I can help with homework, reading and writing, maths, assignments and boost confidence in the classroom. I use games, science and hands on activities to engage and motivate happy students.
