I am a registered teacher with a Masters of Primary Education and six years of experience working in mainstream primary schools across. I specialise in teaching phonics, reading, reading intervention and numeracy. My teaching career has also included specialist roles delivering targeted small-group instruction, identifying learning gaps, and designing evidence-based programs that build the specific skills and knowledge students need to thrive. I have a strong professional focus on early literacy—particularly phonics and foundational reading skills—as well as early numeracy and number sense. Prior to entering the classroom, I also home schooled my own children, which strengthened my commitment to personalised, developmentally appropriate learning.

Experience

I home schooled my 7 children for 17 years and then completed my Master's in Primary Teaching. I moved from South Australia 4 years ago where I worked as a Foundation/Kindergarten teacher.
Since being in NSW i have mainly been working as a Specialist Learning Support Teacher with children from Kindergarten to year 6.
I have experience working with children with learning difficulties and those that simply have gaps in their learning which make it difficult for them to understand and progress in their learning.
I am passionate about numeracy and literacy and the importance of building solid foundations in these core subject areas. I use concrete materials and use a multifaceted approach to learning new skills.
I assess children to see where they have gaps in their learning and use this information to create goals and a program in alignment with the New South Wales Curriculum.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology.
Master's in Primary Education.
Jolly Phonics Training.

Rates

The rate is variable depending on whether the lessons are conducted at my home or the students.
