Mornington Peninsula tutor in English, Maths, General Maths, Reading, Study Skills, English Language, English Literature, ESL, Essay Writing, Special Needs

I travel to these locations
Safety Beach, Mount Eliza, Mornington, Dromana, Rye, Rosebud, Blairgowrie, Red Hill, Balnarring

I create positive and secure learning environments by establishing a student centred, positive classroom culture, where students are encouraged to develop their own classroom expectations. I work with an emphasis on restorative practices in combination with empathetic and compassionate teaching strategies.

I tailor my teaching to cater to each student's needs and interests. Taking the time to relate to my students interests unlocks many more teaching and learning opportunities for students and provides the comfortable learning environment that promotes individuality and genuine interest in the learning content.

I have my own resources (including hands-on resources), knowledge and experience using resources online, to create lessons and learning opportunities tailored to my students' needs.
(Depending on students' needs, additional workbooks and stationary may be necessary and come as a small additional fee - to be confirmed with initial consultation)
Typically, a tutoring unit would begin with an initial pre-assessment, with follow up assessments to measure growth and highlight trouble areas for targetted learning.

*Available weekends only - except during holiday periods

Experience

I'm a qualified, registered teacher with over 13 years of classroom experience, from Primary level Foundation to Year 10 level students. I now predominantly teach applied learning, working VCE students to achieve their Vocational Major or Victorian Pathways Certification. I've also tutored one-on-one since 2017, so I know how to make learning click for students who need something different from a busy classroom.

I tutor primary and early secondary students, with a focus on maths, literacy, problem solving and study skills. My sessions are structured but relaxed, as I aim to work the 'hard way', to build confidence, as well as skills. Students who feel capable are far more willing to have a go.

I have extensive experience with students with dyslexia, ASD and other learning differences, using multisensory strategies and regular check-ins to track progress. I've also worked with students who speak English as an additional language, and I hold a TEFL certification.

I use assessments to guide my teaching, not just to measure it. I'll identify where your child is at, set clear targets, and, with your permission, liaise with their classroom teacher so our work supports what's happening at school. I keep parents and guardians updated on progress throughout.

I also hold a current Working with Children Check.
