At the start of the year, English Language was one of my most challenging and uncertain subjects. Jason’s tutoring was instrumental in building my confidence and helping me excel. For a subject such as English, I find it useful to familiarise myself with different ways of thinking and approaching the subject by hearing opinions and ideas from different people, like collaborative tutoring. I think his class was excellent in that each and every student had equal opportunity to share their work during class across lessons, which allowed me to track my own progress, improve, and learn from the feedback you gave them. Beyond the classroom, he was always readily available to answer questions outside of lessons (I think this was the part that really stood out to me), and the feedback on my writing pieces were incredibly thorough and detailed. The resources he provided were abundant and very relevant to the study design, saving me immense time and effort throughout the year. He also offered emotional support especially when I needed it most, like before SACs and just times when I felt stressed. I can tell he really cares about his students, like their wellbeing and how they learn and perform and grow, which is another very valuable quality. The way he teaches also really suits my learning needs, his frequent use of anecdotes and how he emphasises certain points helps me memorise meta language and other concepts with ease. Jason’s lessons are organised neatly, he prioritises sacs and making sure students from all schools are ready for their respective sacs. Although the online format is new to me, but I’ve found that it saves travel time and makes it so that watching recordings and attending the lessons are almost equally useful! Overall, I am very happy with how everything turned out and cannot recommend his tutoring highly enough. Thank you for your hard work :D |

I really enjoyed the way classes were structured as Jason went through everything in super clear detail, as well as how in a group class I was able to gain and learn ideas from other people that I probably wouldn’t have thought of myself to further my understanding and structure responses. All the materials he gave were also really good and saved me a ton of time trying to find media examples by myself, and breaking them into separate themes really helped me pair relevant examples together. All of Jason’s feedback on my written pieces was also really detailed and specific to certain areas for improvement so I wasn’t just making the same mistakes consistently. Overall, he’s been such a great tutor over the past year and I would highly recommend ? |

Jason's lang tutoring this year was really helpful for me being someone that always hated english and struggled with it. Last year I was getting very average scores and barely knew what I was doing but thanks to Jason's tutoring I've been doing much better than I thought I would for 3/4. Also the metalanguage and media example banks provided have been lifesavers, as well as the booklets Jason uses as they explain concepts really clearly and explain the different section structures well. Finally the feedback given is also very detailed and insightful and gives you more ideas and steps to use improve for future practice. Overall would highly recommend joining. |

For anyone that needs an English Language tutor, I would definitely recommend Jason as he is so experienced, knowledgable and provides such detailed and constructive feedback! His feedback entails what you have done well, what you can do to improve, and he provides further elaborations to expand your ideas even more! This has allowed me to deepen my ideas and improve in my writing! Jason’s lesson is also super efficient and thorough which is so important when time is scarce in year 12. After his lessons, I always feel like I’ve learnt so much and have so much more clarity on how to approach the different writing styles (short answer, AC and essay). Jason’s clear way of getting across the content both helped me understand and retain the information in English Language. The constant explanations of questions allowed me to formulate my own answers for other similar questions. I found the example bank very useful with many high quality examples that I have been able to use through my sacs and other assessments. Personally through English language tutoring from the start of Unit 4 that I joined you, I have definitely seen an improvement in not only my scores but also the quality of my work especially regarding AC and essay. Before I joined I was averaging 8 and 9 out of 15 for ac/essay sacs as I lacked clarity on ideas to use and structure swell, but after I joined tutoring within the first few sacs my scores have gone up to 10-11.5 out of 15 and also placing me at a higher ranking within my class. The recourse available to me such as the media example bank and the metalanguage bank definitely help me as it is an avenue I can constantly refer back to for revision and to brush up on the study design points. Finally the quality of feedback for tasks I have submitted for feedback are very detailed and help me navigate exactly the points I have to improve on for higher results.
Overall, amazing tutoring experience, and my only regret is that I should have joined at the start of the year so I could’ve done better in total! |

Being a student of Jason over the past 2 years has made me aware of how exceptional his teaching ability is. The highly organised structure of each class and the plan for the classes ahead truly reflects his commitment as a teacher and his goals of improving our English abilities. Organising the classes from introductory lessons for each area of study to starting practice in a couple of weeks is very helpful. It not only helps me memorise the content better but too in implementing it into my own writing. Furthermore, Jason’s feedback for our homework is extensive, detailed and highly worth reading. His critical evaluation of our homework, followed by constructive feedback has always helped me become far more confident in English Language. If I do have any questions regarding the feedback, or any other English language questions in general, he replies quite quickly with voice messages that are very thorough. By far the greatest resource provided by Jason is the media example bank, that outlines a lot of media examples that are required for the section C essay. It is so useful because of how much time it saves his students, allowing them to practice more and not use up hours of their time searching for these hard to find, high quality examples. The small group nature of his classes is also highly beneficial because you get to hear the responses from other students, which broadens your own perspective and undeniably adds to the value of the class. From English Language being a subject that I neglected and was horrible at, to now being an enjoyable one that I do well in, I would definitely recommend Jason as an English Language tutor to any student. |

I really think Jason is the best English Language tutor one can have because before I’ve got recommendations by friends, I was getting tutored by another teacher which I don’t think they have helped me to improve at all during year 11 and just money down the drain without much benefits. However, ever since I’ve joined Jason’s tuition, I’ve been getting detailed feedbacks from each of the works I’ve submitted which I normally would have to wait 1 week or even 3 to just get a 2-3 sentences feedback written on the papers by my school teachers or my previous tutor. Not only Jason is fast at marking consistently with every piece of my submissions but the feedbacks are extremely helpful as I get to see where I’ve done wrong and how I should improve in a short given time frame since I can still remember what I have written on my latest essay/SAQs or ACs. Another thing I want to point out is that the metalanguage bank and example bank have been a life saviour for SACs as I can just spend time refining my writing skills instead of worrying about in having enough or relevant media examples when time is limited. If there is anything I want to emphasise is the fact that I would 100% and absolutely recommend for future students, Jason’s Englang program, especially in a group tutoring format, is probably the best way for students to learn collectively and cohesively as it not only pushes me to actively engage in each lessons but I’m able to learn from other students simultaneously either through learning by mistakes and errors or potential ideas in different topics! |

I joined one of Jason’s group tutoring classes last year for lang, and I honestly believe that was the sole reason as to how I managed to achieve my year long goal of a 45SS. I’ve dabbled with different tutors here and there and I can definitely say that Jason has set the bar high in terms of tutoring quality. Throughout the year, Jason not only provided ongoing support and feedback, but super targetted advice for sacs and exams. He also made sure to build our knowledge from the ground up, which was helpful especially for those like me who weren’t very confident after 1/2. I started 3/4 English Language tutoring with Jason in year 12 and it has been really helpful for me throughout the year. What I really like about his weekly classes is that they are really organised and interactive and part of this is the resources we get provided like weekly recordings, worksheets and a lot of practice material every week. We also get a lot of great detailed feedback for our weekly work submissions but we also get feedback during class which can be really helpful as not only do we get to learn from our individual work but we also learn from other people’s work. Having switched to Jason’s tutoring earlier this year, Jason’s teaching quality in terms of the resources, feedback and organisation have really helped me keep on track with my English Language studies and this has reflected in my SAC scores which has significantly improved. In U1/2, I was really struggling with English Language, as I was averaging C's and D's throughout the year. At the start of U3/4, It was hard for me to find a good Englang tutor who could adapt to each student's needs, as many tutors I came across seemed to follow a "one-size-fits-all" approach until I met Jason. Jason is always super organised to class with extremely helpful weekly class materials that cover the entirety of the course, as well as many extra tips for the exam. As someone who struggled with englang in yr11 (C+ and B grades), Jason’s teaching has been so so helpful in bumping up my grades - to the point that i’ve consistently scored A+ on my SACs this year. What sets him apart from other tutors is that he’s super passionate about englang, and that‘s translated through all the resources he provides - classes are engaging and interesting (I genuinely get invested lol), the booklets are so informative, and his feedback is incredibly useful and detailed, with consistent support provided throughout the year as well. Jason has been an incredible English language tutor for me in Year 12. Personally English language was not one of my strongest subjects but in Jason’s lessons, his passion for eng lang & tailored lessons has motivated me a lot to which eng lang has now become one of my favourite subjects! Jason provides a very straightforward and clear feedbacks to which has helped me so much in getting the results I want in my SACs. If I’m being honest, Jason’s feedbacks are way more helpful than my teachers!! When I first saw your ad i thought you’d be a normal tutor with normal resources and basic teaching, but when i first attended your trial I was shocked to see how well you know your stuff and how well you explain everything. All the lesson booklets you give us are updated to the study design so i don’t even need to refer to my textbook at all. I enjoy group tutoring because I get to hear other people’s responses and take in the advice you give them so i can improve myself. The feedback you give is detailed and i’m able to identity where i’m going wrong and improve. The teaching quality went beyond my expectations, I found it useful when:
- You explained what you would’ve written for each SAQ, AC or essay
- Used new vocabulary and explained it to us
- Explained in depth what we needed to focus on in our SACs and the Exam
- Explained how to approach the exam
The teaching material was useful:
- The guides were the most helpful to me as they gave me a direction to start when I first wrote ACs and essays
- The example and quote bank is very relevant and useful and saves me a bunch of time
- The metalanguage glossary helps me a ton during my revision
- A ton of revision material was provided to us
- Recordings were handy in case I missed a lesson or wanted to go back to review

Jason’s teaching quality is amazing, especially how he is really detailed when answering questions even on text and the resources he has provided, like the example banks, are really helpful and allow me to be prepared for all topics I may be tested on. My expectations were exceeded since he is really specific in the feedback he provides and is more than happy to clarify any doubts I have about the feedback. Group tutoring is also really helpful since I get ideas from other students and receive multiple forms of feedback since he encourages people to share their writing pieces in class so I would definitely recommend Jason to others. |

VCE English Language has always been a difficult subject for me. Since starting EL tutoring towards the end of Unit 4, Jason has been able to revolutionise the way I view EL. He has not only helped to strengthen my foundations in the subject but also pushed us to achieve results in the higher end by giving us tips/advice on what examiners will look for in high achievers. I joined Jason’s class in November 2023 when trial lessons were taking place, and by far this has been the best tutor experience I’ve ever had. I still remember reading the reviews when I was first starting out and can confidently say I 110% agree with all of them! His teaching, efficiency and amazing resources, like the contemporary example bank for each AOS, are like no other and I can’t recommend Jason enough. The online setting also allows me to anonymously send msgs where Jason provides quick feedback through the chat. With his feedback for writing pieces it’s also evident how much care he puts into the responses and helps you improve.
Personally I’ve had a rough time in year 12 keeping up with the demand and staying motivated to do my best, and even though my sacs weren’t my best possible performance, with Jason’s guidance during the classes I was able to pick up on really valuable information to include in my work. With the exam nearing the recorded lessons are also super helpful and helps me feel less stressed when I miss bits of info during the lessons.
I just want to thank Jason for allowing me to look at EngLang from a whole different perspective, one I can’t learn from school that’s for sure. Jason is key if you want to set yourself apart from the crowd ? Thanks for a great year Jason!! |

The best thing about Jason’s classes are the fact that he gets you to constantly write as much as possible and then gives you immediate, tangible feedback on this writing. I found this really beneficial because I was pushed to think on the spot within a certain time limit that definitely helped me practice for the final exam.
Jason’s extensive knowledge in the subject and detailed nuances on certain features in how to write essays helped me improve on simply how to make my writing come more naturally to me and thus flow better.
The ‘worksheet’ format of his classes are something I found really beneficial due to having so many practice texts to work on during and after classes as well as all the metalanguage/quote banks scattered throughout.
I myself scored a 45 raw in Lang and definitely recommend Jason to anyone who is pushing to get that higher mark or even if you need assistance mastering the basics of the subject. Out of all my tutors, Jason was honestly the most value for money and most helpful because I could seriously see the passion he had for helping us achieve the best we could. |

Coming into English Language from Year 11, I felt like I was really struggling as English was never one of my strong subjects but Jason's tutoring really helped me understand all the concepts and writing skills I needed to succeed.
