Our company will be launching products into Korea later this year as well as attending an expo in Seoul come September. We decided to learn some Korean before the trip and are thrilled with our tutor, Joon!
Joon has been super helpful right from the start. He has tailored the lesson to cover the alphabet, new vocabulary and conversation practice. We have been given excellent notes that we can also refer to in between lessons. We have also engaged his help with translation work for emails and brochures - with fast turn around and great attention to detail. Honestly, if you're wanting to learn Korean for a holiday, or need help regarding business, Joon is your guy! We highly recommend him and thoroughly look forward to our weekly lesson! |

I've really enjoyed learning Korean with Joon. He has not only taught me the Korean
language but also taught me to love the Korean culture. As a complete beginner, I was
able to learn Hangeul very quickly and also understand why knowing more about Korean
culture is so intrinsic to learning the language itself. Joon introduced me to Korean
dramas which has helped me further develop my understanding of Korean relationships; I
can tell how close characters are by their use of formal and semi-polite language etc.
Because I like dramas Joon incorporates them into our lessons and we discuss grammar,
slang words and dialect used. I have found this a great accompaniment to the textbooks
and activities Joon uses for our lessons.
Joon is a very patient teacher and pushes you to develop your speaking and writing skills
without the potential stress you could feel about making mistakes. His lessons strike a
good balance between theory and practise. He also takes the time to text and talk to you
in Korean outside lesson time for extra practise.
Shortly after starting with Joon I was able to travel to Korea and communicate the basics
with retailers, waiters and taxi drivers in Korean. Joon took the time to personally help
me plan my itinerary so I got the most out of my trip.
I can't wait to return so I can practise what I've learnt since my first trip! |

Mr Lee (Tutor Joon) has an excellent understanding of the Korean language and can
explain aspects of the language in simple terms for beginners and also explain the more
complex grammar and usages for advanced learners.
He is also able to explain many aspects of Korean society, this is essential because the
forms of the language used are dependent on the social context and social relationship
between the speakers and writers and readers.
The grammar text books used by Mr Lee give clear explanations and examples.
A student can expect to be able to communicate simple sentences, enough for tourist
travel after a short time, after a limited number of lessons.
Korean is a complex language, the script is easy to learn but the grammar is complex
and the usage is even more complex and few words have any connection to English
words.
To be able to use Korean at a higher level is a long learning task and requires a lot of
time spent on self study and professional lessons. A huge number of Korean words have
the same sound and are written the same way but have different meanings. It takes a
long time to build up the vocabulary needed to understand newspapers, articles and
books and formal speech.
Mr Lee remains patient and helpful during this long process. |
