Not only did he teach content really well, but also created the perfect class environment for you to work independently, ask questions whenever you feel, and work together with your peers. His engaging yet still knowledgeable and thoughtful approach to lessons made it very enjoyable experience to learn chemistry, even some of the boring aspects as his unique personality and charm made it much better. He has a very comprehensive understanding on the subject, understanding the thought processes of assessors and teachers plus has a massive abundance of resources available that he provides which was immensely beneficial and useful. The amount of time he spends just for teaching is very commendable and the value he has provided to students is so much. Excellent tutor and would reccomend! |

Chamila sir has consistently been one of the best tutors I’ve had since joining him in year 10. He is always so supportive of all his students and makes sure to keep up with everyone’s different abilities, while pushing students to aim for high results all the time. He gives so many useful resources, notes and tests with the best questions, and he teaches in a way that makes all the difficult content seem much easier!
He puts so much effort into his students’ success, like the daily exam prep classes on top of regular classes as well.

Truly amazing and the connection he has with every student is incredible. Being from a rural town and my school chem teacher leaving half way through the year made chemistry incredibly difficult, but thanks to chamilla sir I managed to bring it back. Honestly he is the best tutor in the whole of Melbourne, it’s safe to say that without sir, and his multitude of free classes, and his “always a call away” attitude to helping out his student, I wouldn’t have been able to do as well as I did. Would highly recommend for Chemistry one of the GOATs. |

I joined the online classes and my chemistry was the class I looked forward to. Always was really clear with the subject topics and when ever I had a problem he had created an environment where I felt I was comfortable enough to ask my questions. He was very engaging with all students, prompting everyone to take part in the class. Also he taught the subject matter in such a way that it was very clear and precisely and if there were any sacs, after the class he would review any similar questions that were likely to show up on the sac which he also did for the exam. Throughout Year 12 Chemistry, Chamila Sir was honestly one of the biggest reasons why I was able to perform in the subject and maintain a good rank in my class. He really knows the VCE course inside out, and it showed through his clear, easy-to-understand explanations. He always had extra resources ready to go, which helped so much, and made the whole subject feel much less overwhelming.
His friendly and enthusiastic attitude made classes feel lighter, his tips and memorising tricks worked well as they helped me to understand tricky concepts much easier. Somewhere along the way, Chemistry went from a subject I disliked to arguably my favourite, and a lot of that was thanks to him.
If you would like to build a strong understanding of VCE Chemistry and have fun whilst doing so, I’d definitely recommend Chamila Sir. |

At times, VCE can get stressful and difficult. Sometimes, you may dread going into the next day, but honestly, the days I have Chem class with Chamila are the highlight of the week. I never thought Chemistry would become my favorite VCE subject, but somehow, Chams worked his magic and turned me into a student who enjoys doing Chem.
Chamila doesn’t just focus on giving us content—he makes sure we understand it using visuals and demonstrations, making complicated processes simple. Also, class is never boring due to his natural humor.
He attacks the study design from every angle, ensuring that once we enter the exam room, we will have learned everything we need to know in the study design and beyond. Sometimes, he even goes beyond the study design, teaching us topics that are valuable and help us gain a better grasp of the area of study.
Whenever I felt weak in a topic during the week, I could access a whole range of worksheets and recordings from every topic, complete with detailed answers that he recorded himself—all from home through his website portal. This meant I didn’t have to wait until the next class to go over topics. If I needed something urgently, he was just a call away, ready to set up Zoom calls or willing to spend hours after class helping me with topics I was struggling with.

The classes were well organised and structured in a way that helps even new VCE chemistry students understand various concepts and calculations of chemistry. I attended the classes for my two years for VCE chemistry 1/2 and 3/4 and both units were taught with a great detail and dedication. The lessons were engaging and fun in a way that information can be understood and applied practically both in school and during exams. I can’t even begin to explain the amount of resources we were given. Every worksheet and information sheet were specifically made to align with the study designs with questions that challenged our understanding and to ensure we truly grasped concepts well. Towards exam months we were also given access to a chemistry website that allowed us to complete more exam focused worksheets and times tests that prepared us well for the times conditions of the exam. I would highly recommend Chamila sir’s chemistry lessons, especially for students starting their VCE chemistry journey. I went to Chamila's classes for 3 years, and over that time, I came to realize just how valuable having such a good tutor was. His many years of teaching experience allowed him to advise throughout my VCE journey, and made my experience with VCE as a whole much easier. Chamila has a wonderful attitude towards teaching and his classes have a great light-hearted and fun atmosphere (though he can be quite stern if you mess around too much, speaking from personal experience). He is always able to break down Chemistry concepts in a way that is really easy to understand, and he uses a diverse range of teaching techniques to ensure that all of his students are able to retain as much information as possible. There have been many times where Chamila Sir's hilarious analogies and demonstrations have saved me during SACs, and it is this enthusiasm and dedication that Chamila Sir brings to his classes that has stuck with me the most. I struggled very heavily in year 11, as i was barely passing any of my chemistry assessments. In fact, i hated this subject and wanted to drop it, however, it was a requirement for my university course so in year 12 i sought after help from Chamila.
The improvements were very clear from my very first assessment. Chamila has a multitude of resources that far outweigh the value that any other tutor can ever provide, and especially being a school teacher and vcaa assessor himself, is very up-to-date with all of the new study designs and likely questions for exams/sacs. Because of his enthusiastic attitude and passion, i really came to enjoy medicinr, and it ultimately became my favourite subject in year 12.
I went from struggling very heavily one year, to being at the very top of my class, and i cannot thank Chamila enough as i literally could not have done it without him. Alongside this, Chamila himself is a very friendly and kind and easygoing personality, who was someone that anyone could easily connect with outside of class, whether that be to discuss chemistry or anything going on in life.
When you combine Chamila's resources + his lessons + some effort, I truly believe every single student of his can get 40+ easily. Especially with such great value at only 50 dollars per week for so many lessons and 24/7 help via phone or message, i highly recommend his tutoring.
If anyone is struggling in chemistry, or is doing somewhat okay but wanting to achieve the very best possible, i think that Chamila is the best and easiest way to achieve this. |

I honestly cannot recommend Chamila enough to anyone who is looking for a chemistry tutor, regardless of your current level of understanding/skill in chem. There’s two things in my opinion that sets him apart from the rest; the first being that the classes are actually fun, and the second being that Chamila will explain the content in a way that makes sense to everyone and will have you remembering the content well after the final exam. He takes his time to explain the concepts clearly and is more than willing to answer any questions - in fact he strongly encourages them and gets excited when we have one. The classes are also really entertaining, they are jam packed with laughs, amusement and sometimes even food. The two hours fly by and most of us were quite sad when the end of the year rolled around, because everyone was always willing to show up, it was never a chore to attend. Truly though, I think what makes Chamila the best tutor there out there, is that he really genuinely believes in every student and knows he can maximise anyone’s potential. He ran so many extra classes for us, free of charge, regardless of what time it was, because at the end of the day he loves what he does and you can really see his passion for chem shine through his teaching. I don’t have the words to explain the impact he’s had on our education, joining his class was one of the best decisions of my life. He may have never taught me in school, but he’s one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. :) |

Honestly I love him. I joined his classes halfway through last year, and ever since then he's the only thing that's kept me going through chemistry. His classes are always engaging, and he's always putting in an insane amount of effort. He has one weekly class for what's in my opinion a very fair price, and then an extra free lesson online on Friday evenings to allow people from every class to join and practice even more. He's planned everything out extremely well. He has his own website where he uploads recordings for every lesson that we go through, with a copy of the real lesson (which is recorded through a Monday catchup class), and also the Friday extra free class. Over the exam period he provides as many resources as one would need, and I could not ask more from him. Highly recommend! |

I started here in year 11 with very limited knowledge in chemistry. I was too slow at learning concepts on my own and knew that I needed extra help. Since my dad found him, my grades have vastly improved. I don't think I could have done well in chemistry without him.
I remember one time I had an article to read the week before a SAC, and he was driving back home (about an hour drive). Despite this, he took the time to go through the article with me over the phone while driving.
He is a teacher that clearly cares about his students and wants them all to succeed. I highly recommend. |

Thanks to Chamila, I was able to achieve a raw 41 study score for chemistry and an ATAR of 99.70, even though all I did was do the carefully selected practise questions he did with us and simply attend his classes!!
Being a school VCE chemistry teacher and VCE chemistry exam assessor himself, Chamila understands the VCE course better than any tutor, and is thereby thoroughly up to date with all study design changes. He goes through content without missing a single detail, and goes through so many relevant examples with us, giving us time to apply our learning which is often very limited in school classes.
He provides a wealth of resources, including countless practise sacs for each area of study, and practise exams.
Despite such high quality tutoring, he offered so many free classes whenever people felt unconfident in certain topics, free 2 hour sac preparation classes each week (where we went through so many practise questions, most of which were very relevant and similar to the questions we ended up getting on our actual school sacs), and even more trial exam classes free of charge.
Chamila is so easy to talk to and is always so excited when we have questions, no matter how small. He explains everything so slowly and thoroughly yet is always ahead of school content, provides so many resources and additional free lessons- as long as you show up and listen in class, you are in such good hands- I couldn't recommend him more!
Anyone who attends just one trial class will understand what I mean :) |

In Year 11, I found chemistry to be an extremely difficult subject, however, after enrolling in Chamila's class there were definite improvements in my ability to grasp complicated 3/4 chemistry concepts. I believe this came down to Chamila's efforts in his tutoring, where we were provided with 4 hours of tutoring per week that addressed all key areas of the study design, and more importantly in an enjoyable environment. I joined Chamila for Chemistry Unit 3 and 4 and it was the best decision I have made. Chamila is a passionate tutor who really made it easier for me to understand the content. He would run sac/ exam preparation classes every Friday which were very beneficial as the questions that we went through during those classes were similar to the ones on the sacs. He would also run sessions before our school sacs going through any tricky questions and predicting the questions they may ask on the sacs. These were very helpful as it helped me iron out last minute revision I needed to go over for the sacs. Also, during the last couple of weeks before the Chemistry vce exam we would do exams in class going through the questions, this helped as Chamila exposed me more to questions that were tricky to answer. This helped a lot for the exam. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable on the content but he also has an ample amount of resources that he can provide to help you learn and consolidate all the content. The way he structures his class is an absolute god send, using worksheets and booklets to simultaneously teach the theory and apply the content we had just learnt really helped me remember all the content outside of the lesson it was taught in. The free online SAC prep class also gives you an opportunity to learn how to answer questions with guidance as well as rehash your knowledge on previously learnt content which again helps in consolidating all the theory. In conclusion I'm so grateful for being able to have Chamila Sir as a teacher this year as finding a teacher who will priorities application just as much as theory while making classes very enjoyable is often very rare. |

Mr Chamila Herath is a very dedicated and passionate chemistry teacher that explains concepts in a clear and engaging way. He makes learning chemistry enjoyable and takes the time to answer all questions about a topic before moving on. The extra SAC preparation classes that he runs every Monday online (for free!) for all the students was also extremely helpful as it allowed me to gain exposure to a variety of questions and apply my theory and understanding of concepts to application questions. Mr Herath also has an abundance of relevant resources (eg. worksheets and question booklets) that he always gives to students to complete for sac and exam revision so we never run out of work to do! His experience as a VCAA examiner is also helpful as he would tell his students exactly what would be accepted in the exam, the amount of detail certain questions require, and the mark allocations for the questions.
I am very thankful that Mr Herath was my chemistry tutor in year 12 and I definitely learnt a lot from him, therefore I highly recommend any future students who are taking VCE 3&4 chemistry to consider joining his classes as they are very worthwhile! :) |

Mr Chamila is one of the best teachers I've ever had. The teacher I had in school was horrible. Almost a third of our classes he was away and because of this we had to more or less learn all the content ourselves. Powerpoint provided were not correct nor were they corrected when mentioned. But with Mr Chamila Chemistry became my strongest subject when it started off as my worst. The way he structures his lessons with SAC prep on Monday and Content on Tuesday and his random awakenings from LALALAND are very useful. The worksheets that we do together are also very thoroughly gone through and any questions asked are always welcomed to be answered. For only $50 a week this is incredibly worth it. In my opinion I would happily pay significantly more knowing now how well he teaches and how patient he is. THANK YOU SIR. |

Mr Chamila Herath prepares a booklet of presentation slides for each topic with learning intentions and success criteria during his theory class each week.
Additional to this, he organises paper class each week free of charge where he targets SAC questions and exam questions for VCE Chemistry. He explains each of the questions slowly and ensures that the students understand it. This was a helpful strategy. Because, I completed some sort of revision each week which helped me retain the memory before the end of year exam.
Furthermore, he finishes the VCE Chemistry course by August and helps students to revise the content for three months before the end of year exam. With this approach, I had plenty of time to revise and prepare for the exam. It was less stressful this way.
During revision, he also provides every students with copies of trial exam papers and he records an audio of him completing each of the trial exam which can then be accessed through his google drive folder. This way, I was able to understand the difficult questions in the paper.
I would recommend him as a VCE Chemistry tutor who will help you feel more confident in VCE Chemistry. |

Long version: Chemistry was my worst subject and was almost failing at the end of year 11 and I hated doing it and was considering dropping the subject but I stuck with it and started tutoring with Chamila. He made chemistry so interesting that it was the class I was most looking forward to each week not only were the classes good but he cared a lot for the students and even helped out outside of class time. A lot of tutors don't have a good balance between teaching and making the class entertaining but Chamila has struck that balance perfectly. The additional SAC preparations classes is an excellent opportunity to practice exam styled questions leading up to your SACs and final year exam. On top of that, the resources that are provided is in great deal as there is abundant practice questions and notes for each topic. Coming to Chamilla sir's classes has really made me understand the content in Year 12 Chemistry in a more useful manner as the material being taught in school can be very brief and teacher's often ask students to 'read the textbook' but through these sessions I can absorb information much more efficiently and get a hold of the valuable practice questions as well. Chamila sir has been an excellent tutor over the past two years in chemistry. One key teaching skill that has helped me is his ability to understand marking rubrics, and where many students lose marks by missing key words, and ensured I did not make those mistakes, allowing me to answer questions thoroughly. He also ensured that I understood the content thoroughly, and not just on a superficial level, this allowed me to tackle any extended response question, and apply my knowledge to it. His teaching style makes it easy to understand any topic, and he has a plethora of resources that especially help with sac preparation. He also uses exam style questions in class which is excellent practice as when the exam time comes around you are already familiar with the questions and what they are looking for to get full marks. He is not just a great tutor, but an extremely friendly person who makes u feel welcomed and helps you enjoy the class.Overall I’d recommend Chamila Sir to anyone studying chemistry as he has been an excellent tutor to me. |

He is one of the most friendly and inviting teachers I have had and was extremely organised in how he structured classes throughout the year. He always committed to my classes and gave 100% which made chemistry an extremely enjoyable subject.
His experience as an examiner is evident in his ability to explain conceptual intricacies and his laser focus on the sacs/exam is a key point of difference between Chamila and other tutors. This allowed me identify my mistakes and correct my understanding to the required VCAA level whilst also giving me the opportunity to improve how I tackle questions. One of the striking things was how Chamila went beyond identifying my mistakes to develop strategies and ways to prevent mistakes in the future, this is just one example of how committed he is.
Chamila allowed me to develop a complete understanding of the course content and utilises key questions to illustrate conceptual depth, which I found was a very engaging way of learning whilst keeping the assessments in focus. Chamila tutored me for Unit 3/4 Chemistry and to be frank, he is one of the best tutors I've ever had. I started tutoring with him around April, relatively late in the year and well past after he had fully booked his schedule. Despite that, he consistently took the time out of his already busy week to tutor me, an incredibly generous action that I cannot adequately express my gratitude for. He's an incredibly nice guy, and my sessions with him felt incredibly friendly and casual.
Chamila has an attitude to VCE tutoring that I rarely see: he does everything with a strong emphasis on VCAA marking practices and the end of year exam. Many tutors have their own, sometimes flawed, styles they impart on their students, but Chamila is laser focused on preparing students for the most important obstacle: the exam, and thoroughly explains the minutiae and details of how VCAA assessors mark. He is incredibly good at it and his experience as a school Chemistry teacher and assessor is evident. He also has a wealth of up to date resources he gives to students, and has a near encyclopedic knowledge of almost every style of question.
I also really appreciate his honesty. Many tutors, when confronted with a question they haven't seen before or don't know how to answer, sidestep it or make up a shoddy half answer. In contrast, Chamila is honest about the gap in his knowledge but goes away to research and provide a potential answer for the next class. I think he's a suitable tutor for all skill levels. There were certain fields of the subject I was quite poor at, and he was successful in teaching me those. And there were other fields that I was already quite good at, and he really helped me elevate the quality of my answers to be even better.
I have really enjoyed this year with him and I guarantee that if you choose him as your tutor, you will too. He really cares about his students! |

Chamila is one of the greatest tutors I have come across throughout my high school experience. I was fortunate enough to be a student of his for VCE Chemistry in 2020, and despite schooling year being largely disrupted Chamila was able to provide a great sense of consistency through the year via his organised yet catered lessons. He is very dependable, and always able to provide help when needed. Although he is quite busy, Chamila has never failed to find the time to give the necessary support to students, and was flexible in his ability to do so throughout the varying stages of the year. He not only cares about his students, but is able to teach the subject with an unmatched degree of passion and enthusiasm, which was especially important throughout this unique year. Chamila has an extremely wide array of notes, practice questions and basically every resource imaginable which allows students to maximise their tutoring sessions, instead of just reviewing the exact same content as learned in school. I found this especially useful as it allowed me to actively review the content throughout the year, and develop skills on answering questions to the expectations of a VCAA exam, instead of just cramming during exam time. When I first joined Chamila I was not where I wanted to be in terms of my chemistry scores, however after his sessions I developed a renewed affinity for the subject and he was able to instil a degree of confidence in my ability, which was then reflected in an extreme improvement in my chemistry grades. For those whom want a simple summary of this tutor, he is “One of the greatest tutors†I’ve ever had.
Prior to having the opportunity to have Mr Herath as my tutor, I was well below average in Chemistry in Year 12. In fact, I had feared that I was going to fail Chemistry due to not being able to understand concepts and the questions which followed. Now keep in mind that I have had a fair share of chemistry tutors, all of whom were great in their own respective way. But none of them could bring me to the level Mr Herath had.
During my time with Mr Herath, I formed a very positive relationship with him, and I looked forward to our classes. Not only is he able demonstrate his vast knowledge in regards to the subject, but he is also able to showcase his enthusiasm of his work, as he will create countless amounts of: worksheets for topics, PowerPoints for each area of study, and illustrations for procedures and theories; just to ensure you understand the concepts. All of which helped me to not only build confidence in Chemistry but also allowed me to become one of the stronger students in my cohort. His ability to teach is, in my opinion, unparalleled because I have never met a tutor (and trust me I have gone through a lot of tutors, especially in chemistry) who can bring a student from not being able to pass a single test to a very confident individual whom passes all their assessments with flying colours.
Furthermore, Mr Herath constantly demonstrates his care for the students, as he is always happy to give extra classes for his students. Now although I personally had not done this, from external sources I had heard that he even had classes running until 1am just because his students wanted to do so! In addition to this, for the occasional late classes I had (I believe the latest one went until 10pm), Mr Herath never indicated any signs of tiredness, instead he always kept a smile on his face and always made sure I understood what he said. That is something most other tutors will not take upon themselves. Another thing to consider is, despite the many classes he has in a day, he is always very punctual, and in most cases he is early as well. Which amazes me as he is able to handle his timing with each student even though most of the time; he does go overtime, thus highlighting his determination to make his students thrive.
I cannot stress enough the value one receives upon appointing Mr Herath as their tutor, and I would highly recommend to anyone to do so. I truly wish him all the best, and I hope you all also find yourselves experiencing the same joy and enthusiasm I had experienced with Mr Herath! |

Chamila tutored me with all four units of Chemistry, and he made the subject enjoyable for me. His method of teaching was very engaging and he was extremely resourceful. Approach to teaching was very humble, he is very experienced in his field. Makes students feel welcomed, and Chamila is driven to see his students work at the full potential.

Chamila was able to teach me everything I needed to know to prepare me for my VCE Chemistry exam. Chamila is an exelent teacher with a easy to get along with personality. He is very approachable and understanding and likes to hear your involvement and questions if something does not make sense to you. He is very happy to explain things in different ways to ensure that his students have the best understanding and knowledge of the course as they can. He provides great extra resources that schools do not provide which only adds to the knowledge his students obtain about the content of the course. He is able to arrange meeting times to suit you and is able to come to your house which removes the stress of feeling as though your valuable study time has been used in order to travel to a tutor! A reliable and too the point tutor, Mr Herath is expertly knowledgeable in regards to the key knowledge required to excel during both year eleven and year twelve. Graduating with a 97.85 ATAR in 2018 I can easily attribute a great portion of my success to Chamila's positive learning attitude and exam focused teaching style. With his tutoring, specifically for chemistry, I was exposed and duly familiarised with hundreds of VCAA exam questions and numerous practice exams which put me in a great position for my final exams.

Last year, to keep up with the face pace and heavy workload of Yr 12 VCE Chemistry, I decided to get the help of a tutor. I found Chamila friendly and approachable. He helped me better understand the underlying principles of each topic I had trouble with. We worked together to build a more solid foundation to work from by filling in gaps in my learning and understanding. Before Chamila I had found it extremely difficult to keep with the vce chemistry course due to its great breadth and difficulty. After coming to Chamila i gained a sense of motivation to perform well in vce chemistry. Not only did Chamila simplify and cohesively explain complex ideas and concepts with regards to the subject, but he also provided me with a vast range of materials and resources that aided my understanding of the subject.
