Hi, my name is Maiko! I'm from Hokkaido, Japan. I'm a friendly and energetic person who loves nature and ice cream!
You can take my online lessons(Zoom) , and Face to face lessons only at my house(Group lessons are currently closed.).

I can support your homework and amend your essays, and help with reading Japanese articles.
I can also teach Japanese to children under 10yo with Japanese picture books, textbooks and songs etc.

The lesson fee is $ 65 per hour.
If you pay for 4 lessons in advance, I will give you a $10 discount.
The first hour is half priced at $32.50.

Experience

I am teaching Japanese to more than 25 people a week. I have taught Japanese to more than 70 people in Canberra (as of February 2026).
The age of my students range from 7yo to over 60 yo.

I have read scientific papers in Japanese for 6 years at university in Japan, so I can explain how these work.
I have 4 years of experience working in an international tourism information center and I also have experience in environmental education for elementary school and junior high school students in Japan.
I have worked as an editor for 4 years in the Japanese publisher.

I believe that I am better at correcting essays for high school and college students than other Japanese. As a result, my students have achieved high grades, especially in writing and speaking assessments.

Qualifications

Bachelor of environment degree.
Master's degree in dairy farming.
I have judo experience and I have a black belt.
Unfortunately, I do not have a Japanese language qualification. I am currently planning to take a 420-hour course for Japanese language educators.
