Maiko-sensei is an amazing Japanese tutor. Her fluency in English enables easy communication with students and helps to guide the students on their language journey. She is extremely punctual and readily available, and she is of course very friendly and supportive! Maiko-sensei’s teaching is also adaptive to the student’s learning style of choice.
My experience with Maiko-sensei has been great and I hope to keep taking lessons after her hiatus!

I’ve been doing lessons with Maiko since around August of 2021, while I did year 11 Japanese in college. While I struggled with Japanese a lot in school and learning in a big group, I found learning from Maiko fun and easy. Even after graduating from college and going on to study business at uni, I still greatly enjoy learning Japanese with Maiko. Maiko is Incredible nice and patient even when i really struggle to understand something she explains it very well and easily. Because of this Maiko is without a doubt the best Japanese teacher I’ve ever had and may very well be the best in Canberra. |

Maiko is dedicated and comprehensive in her teaching. She takes the time to ensure you understand each topic. She adeptly flexes her style and approach after understanding the student's current Japanese abilities.
I would highly recommend Maiko to people at any level wanting to learn Japanese. |

Maiko has been my tutor over the course of college, and has greatly aided me in my conversational and oral skills, which I initially communicated I wished to improve. She was also a great help in reviewing my college assessments, or preparing for interviews, and aided me in topping my college Japanese class. Maiko is a very bright and extremely welcoming and caring personality, who I would recommend to those wishing to learn and improve their Japanese skills. |

I went on holiday with my wife to Japan to visit her family and to see different parts of the country. I had already learnt the basics of the Japanese language but after a day or two of trying to listen, it simply became overwhelming and I depended on my wife for translations. So I decided to hire a tutor to improve my Japanese to the point where I can understand and have conversations with my wife, her family and every day Japanese people. And even though still feel that goal is still far off in the distance, Maiko Sensei is certainly making that goal possible.
In the last few lessons, I have felt that my Japanese has started to grow, for example, I'm able to listen to most sentences and after 2 or 3 seconds I have understood what being ask of me, hoping this time will be further reduced. This is because Maiko-san and I have been spending much of the lessons talking to each other in Japanese. Furthermore, the conversation is typically personal to me, recently my wife and I went to Geelong for a short holiday. In one lesson, we talked about the events of the holiday in Japanese, Maiko-san also documented what I say in Japanese. I feel this is her biggest strength to customize the lesson to my needs.
I highly recommend Maiko-san if you want to take your Japanese to the next level. |

Maiko is a fantastic Tutor!
She is always on time for lessons and approaches her teaching with an extremely positive attitude, and is excellent in her ability to teach her students. She always goes above and beyond with her lesson preparation to the point of surprising me with just how much effort she puts in to her preparation and lesson material. Her effort and ability was far more than what I expected, and I have always felt that I have received significantly more than what I paid for. If you are looking for a Tutor for Japanese, Maiko is among the best. |
