Hi, I’m Tahir — a University Academic, experienced educator and private tutor with over 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience.

I provide personalised one-to-one tutoring in Mathematics, Chemistry, Science, Statistics, Finance and selected university subjects, working with high school and university students.

I currently teach at university and have supported hundreds of students across a wide range of abilities and academic backgrounds. My focus is not simply on helping students get the next question right — it is on developing the understanding, problem-solving ability and confidence that allow them to succeed independently.

I take the time to understand where a student is currently at, identify gaps in their knowledge and then structure lessons around their individual needs and goals.

Experienced university educator

My experience extends well beyond private tutoring. I have taught across universities, schools and other educational settings and currently teach Mathematics, Science, Statistics and Finance at university level.

I hold a First Class Honours degree in Environmental Science from the University of Nottingham, as well as postgraduate qualifications in Hydrogeology and Environmental Health.

Before moving into education, I worked professionally as a hydrogeologist in the mining and engineering sector and later as an Environmental Health Practitioner in local government. This professional background gives me a strong understanding of how Mathematics and Science are applied in the real world.

Over his extensive career in education, Tahir has developed a strong reputation for making complex concepts clear, engaging and accessible. He focuses on developing a deep understanding of the subject, strong problem-solving skills and, importantly, the confidence students need to perform at their best.

His tutoring is highly personalised and structured around each student's individual needs. He quickly identifies areas where a student may be struggling, explains concepts in a clear and intuitive way, and then builds understanding progressively through targeted practice, challenging questions and exam-style problems. He combines strong subject knowledge with a detailed understanding of curriculum requirements, assessment expectations and effective exam technique.

Tahir holds a First Class Honours degree in Environmental Science from the University of Nottingham and a Master of Science in Hydrogeology from the University of Birmingham and a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Health. Before moving into education, he worked professionally as a hydrogeologist in the mining industry, providing valuable real-world experience that he incorporates into his teaching.

He is also passionate about creating high-quality educational resources for students and is developing a Mathematics-focused YouTube channel featuring concise, exam-focused lessons designed to make challenging concepts easier to understand and help students prepare more effectively for their assessments.
