Marian was an absolute life saver. I am personally not a very maths or science oriented student, and was really really struggling at the beginning of this year. Marian helped me to relearn and understand any content that I was unsure about. At the beginning of the year, I got 37% on my SAC, but then I started seeing Marian, and on my next SAC I got 83%. She is friendly, punctual and reliable, and provides hundreds of pages of notes and and practice questions. I cannot recommend her enough. |

If you’re looking for a chemistry tutor, look no further than Marian al - Reban. I was someone who went from failing my year 11 chemistry exam and having barely any chemistry skills to going into every sac and the final exam confident in my ability to score highly and answer every question with great confidence.
Within each session Marian would follow up on content I had already learnt at school but also take it much further and allow me to understand the intricate details of chemistry that allowed to not just a general knowledge of the concept but an understanding that was greater than my peers.
After discussing content briefly at the beginning of our sessions the main focus was answering questions. Questions that I would go on to see on sacs and exams. Marian was extremely organised as she had compiled many questions and exams to practice the skills that I would replicate on the day of the exam.
The way she went about tutoring me was second one to none. In each session I felt comfortable to say “ I’m not sure” or “I don’t know” as she didn’t make me feel less confident or unintelligent for not knowing or understanding content. Not only that, she summarised and made the complexities of chemistry so easy to wrap my head around. |

General thoughts:
Marian is an extremely hardworking, dedicated and uplifting Chemistry tutor who has made the subject a joy to learn. She knows her content so thoroughly and left no stone unturned in my Chemistry journey with her, supporting me throughout the year whenever I needed help.
Content coverage:
You will rarely find a tutor who is as proficient as Marian in all areas of the study design and who works to consistently improve the content she provides to her students, giving them enormous amounts of encouragement along the way. With her, you will never feel inadequate or stressed as she works to always ease you into new concepts whilst tailoring her teaching to the VCAA expectations and criteria so that you feel fully prepared for the exam. Marian focuses on the â€why’ behind concepts in VCE Chemistry and her teaching style is so beneficial for this reason because she takes her time with difficult areas of the curriculum, helping students to truly learn the content rather than mindlessly memorising facts. There is rarely a question Marian cannot answer as she is so advanced in her Chemistry knowledge and will always cater to her students curiosities or needs about the subject.
Availability and Punctuality:
Marian’s availability is exceptional- even during the peak time of exam season, she went above and beyond to support my needs, consistently marking my exams, helping me with my wording for difficult VCAA questions and always available for an impromptu or emergency lesson should I need it- I have never ever felt like I have no one to turn to for Chemistry help because she is always there to help me. She is consistently punctual, always positive and has hardly ever rescheduled our sessions. Whenever I needed SAC help, Marian was always there to guide me and help me through my assessments to obtain a great average in Chemistry across the year.
Attitude:
Throughout the year, students who learn from Marian enjoy a tutoring experience that is tailored to their needs- Marian is extremely positive, kind and hardworking and becomes not only an excellent tutor but a friend that you can always turn to. She is always welcoming and lovely to talk to and I am pleased to say that I have never regretted any of my sessions with her.

Last year I was doing terrible in chemistry, I was getting the worst scores possible and moving into year 12 I didn’t know how I could redeem all the knowledge in time for the exam. But Marian knew exactly how to help me achieve that and her tutor sessions were a life saver. Not only does she really know her content and knowledge well, she’s really engaging and comfortable to talk to, it makes you feel like you want to be better at chemistry and I even enjoyed it as well. She also is flexible with tutoring times and goes along with your study schedule. After just finishing my chem exam I didn’t think I would be able to achieve this far but I did thanks to Marian. As someone who was always trying to excel in all my studies, Marian was an excellent tutor for chemistry, helping me to navigate the VCE course and understand each and every important concept within it. Providing students with a plethora of nuanced but important questions, Marian enables students to learn rather than simply teaching students things they already know in class. Particularly, she gives each student time when asking questions in order for them to actively recall their own knowledge and apply them to more difficult questions. She will not only work at her best for all students, but also give the students the strive to work at their very own best. Highly recommend. Didn’t had tutor for unit 1/2 for chemistry nearly failed it. However unit 3/4 Mariam saved me. Never been fan of chemistry but year 12 only survived because of Mariam. The resources provided are LIFESAVER, way easier simpler to understand than anything. I survived In chemistry only using those notes. During tutoring, the amount of exposure to questions had, during exam there wasn’t 1 single question that I had no idea what to do. Each and every question on exam , I had done before in tutoring.
Communication was amazing, always had questions relplied on time.

She provided comprehensive knowledge in all areas of Health and was able to explain concepts to me in such a clear and concise way that my school teachers weren’t able to achieve. Alongside this, her patience, kindness and support throughout the year and in the lead up to the exam was remarkable.
The tips and tricks Marian equipped me with throughout our lessons helped me sit my SAC’s and exams with more confidence, understanding and knowledge, and I know I’ll be able to use these skills for the rest of my VCE journey.

Marian is quite literally the best tutor I’ve ever had. She is able to make difficult concepts a lot less daunting and explains them in a way that gives you the best understanding. Not only that, but each lesson is tailored to your needs! And it doesn’t matter how wrong your answers may be, she will always take the time to go through each step to ensure you understand each topic.
Something that I really loved about Marian was that she was always available to help with questions outside of class, especially during the super stressful exam period… and she gives the best advice!!
I cannot recommend her enough, she absolutely saved my grades and I am beyond grateful for her tutoring!! |

Incredible tutor! Knows the content very well and is extremely good at communicating the ideas and concepts of chemistry, especially the more complex ones. Marion was a very good addition to have alongside my classroom teacher, as I learnt the concepts in multiple different ways and was able to determine the easiest approach for myself in order to learn and apply the content. Marion was very good at creating personalised lesson plans and teaching styles, and knew what content I had to work on and the best approach to take in order for me to learn it. |
