Japanese Language Tuition |

I began my Japanese studies with Yas-san over 7 years ago and together we have completed over 350 lessons. We meet weekly and it is always something I look forward to. He is a very personable and encouraging "sensei". I was an absolute beginner and our lessons have progressed from using traditional text books to having conversations about our week's activities followed by structured learning.
We focus on practical communication (speaking, listening, everyday reading), which has made the biggest difference for me. Yas-san has given me the confidence to attend a 2 week language school in Tokyo and live with a young Japanese family. Only Japanese was spoken and read at school, whilst my host family was very similar.
I visit Japan each year and feel that I can confidently handle daily lifetravel, shopping, going to restaurants, conversations with hosts and other Japanese travelers I meet. Most recently, I have even had a long chat with a shop attendant in Asakusa while my wife shopped.
I would recommend Yas-san for anyone who wants to learn Japanese language and enjoy every minute of it. |

Yas-sensei's tutoring was invaluable. His ability to identify areas for improvement and design focused speaking and writing exercises directly addressed my needs in both Japanese Continuers and Extension. This tailored approach not only sharpened my exam technique but also gave me a much stronger sense of confidence in my own abilities throughout the HSC year. |

Shimizu Sensei has been a fantastic tutor for me over an extended period of time. I have been learning with Sensei since 2016 and since then I have seen my Japanese improved dramatically - culminating with passing the N4 exam this year. His lessons following a logical structure that encompasses all areas of Japanese (Speaking, Reading and Listening) and he breaks down complicated concepts in easy to understand formats. I have found that being able to converse with a native Japanese speaker in Japanese at least once a week to be highly beneficial and perhaps the most important factor in my continued studies of a foreign language. Shimizu Sensei is an outstanding individual who cares about his students work, always maintains a positive attitude and has provided endless support for me and my studies through senior high school all the way until university level. Next year I hope to continue learning with Sensei even after my university studies have completed as I push for completion of the JLPT N3 exam. |

Mr Shimizu is an incredibly patient and understanding tutor. After I told him how I had been struggling with Japanese after I had been learning all of my content via distance education, he was able to quickly help me catch up to the rest of my cohort and increased my confidence in speaking, writing, listening and reading Japanese. I could not be more grateful for such a lovely and knowledgeable tutor. |

Mr Shimizu helped tremendously with my Japanese competence. Before I started, I got bad marks in my Japanese class at school, borderline failing, and then my mum thought I should do some Jap tutoring. I was really bad at Katakana and in general, school content. Mr Shimizu made me understand the topic without putting pressure on me and because of him, I went from getting a D to a high B in my Japanese yearly exam. Overall, I would really recommend him to any student who is struggling with Japanese, as he is Japanese himself and that automatically makes him very helpful. |

Mr Yasu is a very friendly, professional, patient, understanding and knowledgeable tutor. He speaks also very good English, so understands Australian students who have very little Japanese language. My son studied the Japanese language and culture for 4 years during high school and during this time, usually had one tutoring session per week with Shimizu. At times when my son was unwell with a cold, he was still able to participate in his tutoring sessions via zoom online. This was very helpful. Over the last few years my son and I came to be very familiar with Mr Yasu and feel we can trust him. He has now moved to Queensland and we can highly recommend him as a fantastic Japanese language educator and tutor. Any times we had difficulty making our appointment, we were able to reschedule. |

I originally found Yas by chance several years ago as a local tutor to try to learn a few words before a trip to Japan.
I ended up learning allot more and stayed with it for a lot longer then I expected as Yas made the learning environment really welcoming!
Honestly, I am not great at learning other languages based on my highschool years. But Yas was patient and through his personal tutoring my Japanese grew quickly. By the end of it I was quite comfortable in getting around in Japanese and reading simple documents.
I cant recommend Yas enough, professional and a really nice person! |

I have been learning with Mr Shimzu (Shimizu Sensei) for 4 years now and I could not be more impressed with his application and dedication towards my progress. Shimizu Sensei has guided me through Prelmiinary HSC, HSC, and two years of university course work for Japanese. Not only is Shimizu Sensei's knowledge of Japanese language outstanding but he also has copious amounts of knowledge about Japanese culture as well. Lessons are affordable and there is good flexibility with lesson times/availability (as it is done over Skype). Shimizu Sensei takes an active interest in my education and I have seen my Japanese skills improve dramatically over the last 4 years under his tutelage. |

Yas is very friendly, hard work, tension in details, experienced teacher. He taught Japanese to my son many years via the internet or occasionally face to face. He prepared each lesson based on my son's level and progress, and made valuable suggestions and recommendations for his outside hour study.
My son went to Japan twice by himself, he was able to communicate to the local people so very much enjoyed his journeys. |

Yas-san is a fantastic Tutor and I was comfortable with him from the first time we met. We have been working together for nearly 3 years now with a lesson every week. Whilst we follow a structured method and use a text book, lessons also include informal mentoring. We have had face-face lessons initially, but currently our online lessons have been amazing - with the added benefit of being able to record and go back over our lesson.
Yes-san is always prepared and genuinely interested in my progress and we have developed a good friendship. Yas-san is so enthusiastic that you want to learn more and look forward to the next lesson.
I would highly recommend Yas-san to anyone who wants to study Japanese, whether you are a beginner or want to expand your current expertise. |
